The Unpredictable Magic of Love

Chapter 1: "The Tempest"

Like many others, that was a beautiful day for the kingdom of Equestria. The wind blew calmly, the birds were singing, and every class of ponies enjoyed the warm light that was shining upon the sky.

It seemed that Equestria could finally enjoy the uninterrupted peace and prosperity that were at the edge of calamity after events like the return of Nightmare Moon, the rebirth of Discord and the invasion of the Changelings had taken place several years ago. Those events happened 7 years ago, and even if the time lapsed after those events, the ponies now looked at them like bad memories that were buried deep underground.

The ponies that took charge of ending such events were no exception. The carriers of the elements of harmony, now carriers of legit Royal titles and better known as the "Guardians of Harmony", had moved on with their lifes.

Applejack and her family had greatly extended the farm having now a whole crew of workers for harvesting and distributing their products not only in Ponyville, but also to the other towns of the region that had also began to create within the years.

Rainbow Dash no longer lived in Ponyville. Soon as she had the minimum age of admission, Spitfire asked her to join the Wonderbolts. It was hard for her and the other to say goodbye, but she was willing to make the sacrifice for accomplishing her biggest dream. Besides she could afford visiting them very often.

Fluttershy after obtaining her degree in veterinary had condition her house even more (if that was possible) and now it was nothing less than an animal hospital. Of all her friends, she was the only one that had gotten married, her husband being a doctor of the Ponyville hospital called Swift Relief. A serene and kind Unicorn, but with a strong temper.

Rarity was an eminence in the world of fashion. Her season designs always decorated the covers of magazines, and ponies in all of Equestria travelled to Ponyville to make their own requests. For some ponies it was still weird that Rarity kept living in Ponyville instead of moving to Canterlot or other metropolis of the Kingdom, but she always said that there was no better place to work than hear dear land where her best friends and family lived.

The Cakes had moved to Fillydelphia with their Kids, leaving Sugarcube Corner in the happy and capable hoofs of Pinkie Pie. Now the happy pony was the cook, administrator and owner of the place.

And Finally, but not less important Twilight Sparkle, the loyal student of Princess Celestia continued her studies, in the road for becoming the biggest sorcerer since the history of Star Swirl "The Bearded". The long studies about friendship, her discoveries in astronomy, the recipes for spells and potions that she created had reached such magnitude that the Princess had created her own wing in the Canterlot library. Besides she had started with a little project teaching about magic to every little pony that was interested in the evenings at the library.

– Spike, I'm back! –Yelled Twilight entering her house after the noon of Sunday, after her visit to Fluttershy's house, where she hospitalized Owlicious, since the old owl didn't feel good lately. Peewee wasn't home either, but she already knew that. He had gone a week ago to start the Phoenix' mating season.

-Spike, are you here?- Asked Twilight when she didn't have any answer from her loyal assistant. She went to the kitchen where she thought she would find her friend cooking the lunch, but she only found a scroll on the table.

–What is this? – She asked herself bringing the scroll to herself with her magic.

"Dear Twilight, I was summoned by Princess Celestia, asking to go to Canterlot to be part of the encounter between our Princesses and the ambassadors of the kingdom of Ikaruga, which will take place in two days and, as you may know, it pretends to negotiate a peace treaty between both nations. I assume that the Princess called me now to give me time to know what will the meeting will consist about, and that my presence will help the deal with the ambassadors. I wanted to wait until you got here to tell you this personally, but the Royal transport came before you. Anyway, I'll see you in a few days. I left the food in the fridge. Your number 1 assistant, Spike."

–Spike as a mediator in an international political event– Laughed Twilight, not conceiving the idea of her assistant in such role.

–So many years– she sighted, remembering old times.

Technically Spike was still a baby, but having been raised as a pony, Spike had a level of intellectual and moral development bigger than possibly any other member of his species. If well some things would never change such as him being happy, innocent and even silly in some senses, Spike had grown a lot psychologically speaking and now he had a part time job as archivist and administrator in the city hall. Besides he had grown a lot, now he was slightly taller than Twilight, but a lot stronger than she. Almost as strong as Big Mac, the Dragon Blood really made justice on him. And speaking about that, he had grown wings, but they were still too small to fly.

Twilight pulled out of the fridge the food that Spike had left ready for her. Green salad with pieces of orange and dehydrated berries for sweetness. And as always, the food made by Spike was simply delicious.

"Instead of working in the city hall, he should open his own restaurant" Twilight said to herself when she finished her meal.

She washed the dishes and went to read a book in the comfortness of her studio where her astronomy books and artifacts where. It was Sunday, so she didn't had to worry about attending the library, and also she was in the middle of her vacational period, so she had the whole day for her own.

But the Reading that Twilight had chosen to spend the evening, which was nothing but a love novel, ended up depressing her, remembering her what she didn't have… Fluttershy was happily married and was making plans for having her first baby. The romance between Rainbow Dash and Light Strike was the best known secret between the Wonderbolts. Rarity didn't even have to bother herself going out of her house, the pretenders came to her boutique looking to seduce her from all of Equestria. Everypony knew that the only thing that Applejack loved more than her farm was her family and Friends. And Pinkie… well, Pinkie was Pinkie and apparently there was no pony alive that was energical and positive enough (just for not saying crazy) as to maintain a romantic relationship with her.

But Twilight? She knew the variables of friendship forwards and backwards. She had so many astronomy knowledge as someone with a degree. The Princess trusted her even more than in her most veteran Royal counselor. She had saved Equestria of her doom in three different occasions… and nevertheless she knew absolutely nothing about boys or relationships. Not empirically, at least.

–Do I have something wrong? – She said looking at herself in the closest mirror.

Twilight was not ugly, she knew that. If well she had no Sex Appeal that jumped off the graphics like Rarity or Fluttershy, a lot of meres in town didn't have it, but still had a couple. Why didn't she?

It was not a secret that Twilight never cared too much for her social life in Canterlot. The other meres almost never looked for her to hang out or take a walk. A lot, LOT, more weird was that a boy did it. Even more with her reputation of being a bookworm. "I'm telling you, man. It's like if she was trying to stay a virgin!" She remembered hearing that from a pony a few days before she moved to Ponyville. Twilight would never admit it, but that comment had deeply hurt her self confidence in the matter.

When she arrived to Ponyville she certainly had opened up in the social ambit, but only among ponies her same genre. And since the conditions for her living in Ponyville where to study the Magic of Friendship, not Love's, Twilight never considered necessary or even relevant to get involved in that matter.

–Until now… – She lamented in her couch.

Her Royal degree had brought her several pretenders, but they were only scammers and lazy princes which she wanted to have nothing to do with. The rest either ran away from her or talked to her with too much respect or caution to give her the trust or the interest to look for a romantic relationship.

– I just want a stallion that is cute, strong, that loves me and shares or at least understands the things that passionate me in life such as magic, astronomy and literature – She said, extending her arms to the roof – Is it too much to ask for? –

Twilight decided to go take a bath to soothe her sorrows, passing in front of a night table where there were several pictures. One of them showed the celebration of her 19th birthday with all the meres around her: Her 5 best friends, Zecora, the CMC, and of course, Spike, who was hugging her by her side.

–Well, at least I have you. Right, Spike? – She said smiling, as if the dragon could hear her words.

But her smile vanished quickly.

–I have you… But for how long? –

Spike was growing. What would happen when he couldn't fit in the library? Would they have to build him another house? Would he have to look for a cave near the town for living? Would he have to travel to Ikaruga to live with the other dragons? Twilight sighed and looked at her house. It felt so alone and silent with only her being there. Would it be like that when Spike weren't at her side? A strong noise put Twilight out of her melancholy. The sirens of alarm of Ponyville where ringing. –What's happening out there? – she asked herself, confused, seeing that there was no catastrophe out the windows or anything worth alerting the whole town. A lot of pegasi with speakers came flying. –The presence of everypony is required in front of the city hall for an important message – Twilight, without thinking it twice transported to the referred place, where a massive crowd was blocking almost all the view. –Hey, Twilight! – yelled a unique and known voice.

–Hey Pinkie. How are you? –

–Excited! The sirens never sound unless something horrible is happening, but this time nothing horrible is happening. But they sound anyway and they called us here. I bet something incredible is going to happen! My Pinkie Sense indicates that! Well, I guess we're about to figure it out.

–Your attention, please. – Said the mayor – I've been informed of a terrible accident that had place in the weather factory in Cloudsdale, a moment ago. Because of this terrible mishap several meteorological disasters went out of control and it's expected for one of them to pass by town today at 9 pm. –

–But there are only 4 hours left for that! –

–What kind of meteorological disaster!? –

–Will the cli me patrol do anything? – The yelling of the crowds was intensifying.

–Citizens, please calm down! This natural phenomenon can't be dissipated by the clime patrol because it's too dangerous for them to get close to it. It's a level 3 hurricane in the Saffir scale, also it is carrying with him strong storm clouds. I ask everypony to condition their homes and take the necessary security measures immediately to protect your goods from this phenomenon. urricane in y to condition their homes and so it is carrying with him strong storm today at 9 me in life suc If you know anypony that doesn't know this already, let him or her know immediately. We'll meet here again tomorrow afternoon for the damage report. –

And with this the crowd scattered hysterically to their houses.

–Well, this is really bad. I had to bake a lot of… Twilight? – Inquired Pinkie, spinning her head in every direction when her friend vanished. –Twilight? –

Twilight reappeared in the library's interior with a frightened face.

–Oh no! Oh nononononono! What do I do, what do I do!? –He stomped her hoofs in the floor like if she was dancing professional tap. –Calm down, Twi, calm down… there's gotta be a plan… first the windows. That's it! –

And with this being said, she transported again out of her house, appearing in the entrance of a workshop.

–Hi, is there service? I need duct tape! – She yelled, knocking the door with despair –

–Sorry miss, we're closed. Didn't you hear about the hurricane? – Said an earth pony from the shop's Windows.

Before Twilight responded, she transported to the workshop's interior.

–Yes I did! That's why I'm here! I need duct tape for my Windows – She said, running in the corridors – What could be better? Scotch, masking tape… –Moments later, Twilight came back.

–I'll take this – She said with a lot of objects floating around her.

–Ok-okay, those are 30 feet of masking tape and 6 feet of duct tape. It's… –

–Have this and keep the change! – She interrupted, leaving a generous quantity of bits on the table and transported afterwards.

Later that day, Twilight had covered every window in the library, but also wrapped every ceramic, crystal or any kind of object that could fall and break in pieces. She also unplugged every electric device in the house, and put duct tape over the outlets.

–Alright now… let's save the investigation instruments! –

She went up to her studio where she disassembled all her telescopes, terrestrial globes, solar system scale models, barometer, etc. And she put them in boxes filled with paper and anything that could lighten hits.

–Okay, now we only have to save the books – Twilight stood in the middle of the library's lobby with a suitcase on her side. –I always knew I would use this spell someday – She smiled ironically. Her horn started to shine, at the same time she sang an exotic song. The books in all the library started dancing in the air, slowly going to the suitcase at the side of Twilight, where they disappeared as if they were going to an endless pit.

–Now we only need the shelter –

Moments later, Twilight was in the library's basement. Over the floor there where the mattress of her bed, the guest' bed and Spike's, who now not only had his own bed, but his own room. The pillows where scattered all over the floor, and around the floor she put the rest of the pillows in the house (sofa, chairs, etc.), it was like entering a kindergarten room conditioned for no kid to get hurt playing in it.

–Now let's wait – She said, covering with a thin blanket and hugging a pillow.

Later that day Twilight was shaking, completely scared. The hurricane was visible from the window, it was far away, and electric light had gone moments ago, leaving her protected only by the light of 3 candles she had brought to the shelter. Twilight was covered by her blanket, hugging a pillow while other two were pressed against her body at both sides as a tent.

This was nothing compared to "The great storm" from when she just moved to Ponyville. First because nobody was sure that the current natural disaster could or not destroy the town, but also because she was completely alone to face it this time. She thought in her friends and begged Celestia for them to be ok. A smile instantly lighted up when she knew that it would be like that. Rarity would probably be with her parents and her sister protected by the love of her family. Same with Applejack. Pinkie would be in the basement of Sugarcube Corner listening to high volume music eating cupcakes of every flavor, not even noticing the hurricane. And Fluttershy would be protected between her husband's arms.

Twilight then noticed what made her different among all her Friends: She had no pony to appeal to. She considered herself too old and mature like to go seeking for her parents for help. Her brother? Uff! That naive that she considered her BBBFF!? Alright, he hadn't told her that he was getting married because of the spell that Queen Chrysalis had on him. But before that? He didn't fall in love the same week he got married, RIGHT? There was no excuse. "Hey sis, guess what, I have a girlfriend" And done! It wasn't so hard to inform her of how was his life going, right? She forgave him for being an insensitive bastard with time, sure. But needless to say that the trust and love she had towards him never came back as they were before.

So who should she appeal to in this moment, in which it seemed that at any time the wind could blow her house of? Owlicious was just a Little owl. Added the fact that we was and old one and in a few years he wouldn't be in this world. Peewee was a powerful and virtually immortal Phoenix, but being a magic being and not talking made it harder to communicate with him than with other animals. Besides Owlicious was more close to her, but Peewee was closer to Spike.

–Spike… – Whispered Twilight.

Her mind centered in an instant. Of course! Who else could she trust if not in Spike, her dear number 1 assistant? The one that had been in the good and in the bad moments, in all her long study nights, for taking care of her mental sanity, in all those times that (much to her regret) her neuroticism and hypochondria would take her to the edge of madness. The one that surely had influenced more than anypony, more than the very Celestia for her to be the pony that she was today. If there was somepony (or dragon) in the world that could help her in a time like this, it was him. But as she well knew, he was very far from there.

– Spike… – She whispered with a crisp voice, due to the fear while her pillow absorbed the tears of her eyes. –Spike… help me… – She kept asking the help of her guardian, even when the logical part of her brain told her it was a stupid thing to do. –Help me Spike… Help me, please… – She kept begging with her face buried in the pillow.

–Twilight! – She listened from far away –Twilight, where are you? – She heard, stronger than before.

–Spike? – She said, taking her head out of her improvised shelter

–Twilight! – Yelled the dragon, opening the door that lead to the basement.

–Spike, I'm here! – She screamed, jumping out of her hideout.

Spike closed the door behind him and jumped the stairs in a single jump. Twilight ran towards him, who opened his arms to receive her.

–Spike, thank Celestia that you're here! – Screamed Twilight full of joy and relief, burying her face in Spike's chest, almost stabbing him with her horn in the process.

–I couldn't be in peace until I could know that you were safe – He said, wrapping her in his arms.

–But… how are you here? How is it possible? – She asked confused, raising her eyes to look his face.

–The news about the accident in Cloudsdale got to Canterlot. As soon as I knew it I came running here. – He said, as if it was the only reason necessary.

–But… You came alone from Canterlot? Running?

–Yes, don't forget that my force and my stamina are greater than most ponies'. It wasn't so hard. Besides, I couldn't call myself your number 1 assistant if I can't be at your side in a moment like this.

–But you had to travel across the storm and the wing. You could have killed yourself! Besides… What about the meeting with the ambassadors? You were supposed to be there! What will the princesses think when they see you left? – She complained.

–I left a note saying that I had to come back for an emergency. And yes, I know that it was dangerous coming just like that. I know, Twilight, I know. But not even the whole force of nature could have made me let you face this alone. Especially not after the last time.

New tears went out of Twilight's eyes, but these were of happiness and gratitude. He well knew that she needed him and had risked his life just to be at her side.

–Oh, Spike… Thanks! Thanks a lot! I had so much fear, a lot of fear! – She screamed, breaking into tears and hugging him strongly.

–You don't need to have it now, Twi. I'm here and I won't let anything bad happen to you. I promise. – He said, whispering and petting her.

Spike sat down, attracting Twilight so that she could rest her body in his. Eventually, the crying of Twilight became sobs, until finally her breathing softened and her body relaxed under the hug of her loyal protector. Twilight sighted letting her head in Spike's chest, while he kept petting her mane to tranquilize her.

Twilight started to feel an unusual mix of sensations. She felt happy and grateful that Spike came here alone only to be with her and protect her, which was very natural. But there was a lot more. She felt oddly comfortable resting her body on the dragon's. She felt an unusual warmness wrapping her. Warmness that came from everywhere and seemed to calm her body and mind. And finally she felt safe in Spike's arms. Protected and secure. An odd security that lured her to think that he could protect her from any danger.

She asked herself what was this odd mix of feelings she experimented, but her reasoning seemed interrupted for a strong noise outside that made her return to her maximum alert state, putting her hoofs in Spike's chest.

–Wha-what was that? – She said looking at the roof.

–I don't know. I better go check what it was. – Said Spike, breaking the hug.

–N-no, don't go! – She said, terrified

–Twilight calm down. I'm just going to check what that noise was.

–Leave it, Spike, it doesn't matter. We're safe here, you said it yourself. Stay with me, don't leave me please! –She said, begging and with new tears coming out of her eyes.

Spike's heart was breaking at seeing Twilight so weak, miserable and vulnerable.

–Twilight, please calm down. I wouldn't abandon you for anything in the world, but I have to go over there and check. If a windows broke I have to find a way to cover it, otherwise we'll be swimming down here. If a thunderbolt hit the roof, I'll have to make up something to fix it, or in the worst case, we will have to find another place to spend the night. But I have to go upstairs to see what was that sound. – He tried to reason with her. –I know that I can't ask you to come with me. But you'll be safer here anyway. I promise it won't take long. I'll come back before you realize. Okay? –

–Alright… – Responded Twilight, not very convinced, although she knew that Spike was right.

–It won't take long – He assured. –I'll leave the door open so you can scream if you need me.

Spike went upstairs quickly, leaving the door open. Twilight felt the fear invading her again while her legs started shaking. Her fears started to grow more now that she noticed the thunder storm had extended.

–Sspike… Everything good up there? – She tried to scream, but her voice had almost no strength. She started hearing noises like from moving furniture. –Spike, what's going on up there!?... Come back! You already took so long! – A strong blizzard opened the door suddenly, extinguishing the 3 candles that lightened the basement, thus leaving the room in complete darkness and Twilight defenseless, prey to her fears.

–SPIKEEEE! – She screamed, invaded by fear and desperation. –Spike, please! Come back, come back! Spike! – She kept screaming throwing herself to the floor and seeing as she didn't have any pillow to hug, she shrugged in fetal position, covering her head with her arms.

Soon she felt how the wind that blew and moved the blankets stopped, and she felt how two hands grabbed her under the armpits for a strong hug, which she returned almost by inertia.

–Here I am Twilight! Here I am, you're safe. –Said the dragon, knowing he would have to do again all he have done to tranquilize her

–DON'T DO THAT AGAIN! – She yelled at his face, but anything she could really see in the darkness were her green eyes that were glowing. –Don't leave me alone like that again! Don't ever leave me alone! NEVER! Don't think of doing that again! –She kept screaming between tears, completely hysterical, punching Spike in the chest with her hooves.

–I won't, Twilight! I won't! – He responded, trying to calm her down.

–Promise me! –

–What? –

–Promise me you'll never leave me alone! That you will always be at my side! Promise it!

–I promise, Twilight, I promise, really! –

Twilight saved a moment of silence, for later almost charging against Spike at the same time she rounded him with her arms, pressing him strong enough like for his small wings to hurt, even if he didn't gave her any indications of it, responding the hug and again, petting her long mane. Twilight rested her head in Spike's neck, where she dropped her tears, hugging him with desperation, as if she feared that the dragon would vanish in the air.

For Spike it was a torture having to see Twilight in such state. He had the hope that he would never have to see her that way again. But now he was there to support her, and wouldn't allow the same thing from last time happened again.

Twilight's dread for storms had born a fateful day four years ago. Wishful of studying the wonders of methereological wonders, she and Spike had gone to Manehattan to study an upcoming tornado in the weekend. Given that Spike was still too Young back then, Twilight asked him to stay in the hotel while she would figure it out alone in the field job.

Needless to say, things turned awful. The tornado went out of the course the specialist indicated, going directly to the place where Twilight had her lookout. Before she could cast a spell to get out of there, one of the objects dragged by the wind impacted against her horn, fracturing it and incapacitating her capability to cast spells. Unarmed and with a shelter not designed for the eye of the hurricane, Twilight found herself literally running for her life. After two painful days of searching, the rescue teams found her in a cave, in innutrition, severely hurt and still in shock because of the fear. Spike had promised himself that he would never allow that nothing or anypony would hurt Twilight again.

–Don't cry anymore, Twilight, please. I'm here, nothing bad is going to happen to you. – She tried to tranquilize her, kissing her head.

He turned his head, spitting flames over the extinguished candles, so Twilight could calm down quicker. It seemed to work when Twilight turned her head to see the candles.

–Don't forget it, Spike. Never forget your promise. –She spoke after a long silence, without separating their bodies. Spike grabbed her by the arms and slightly separated her body from him to look at her face.

– Twilight, I don't need any promise… You shouldn't need me to make a promise to be sure that I will always be at your side. – He said, posing his hands in her cheek, drying her tears. –I've known you literally since I was born. Since then we have always been together, and in the worst of cases, we had only been separated for one week or so. We have shared everything, from the good and the bad. And since always you have been the most important pony in my life. –

At this point Twilight had stopped crying. And even though there was strong winds and light strikes in the outside, all her attention was in the dragon.

–As the dragon I am… I'll keep being among the alive many centuries after you're gone.* –At this point, it seemed that Spike was the one about to cry –What makes you think that I would want to get away from you for one second more than the necessary? Be assured that it doesn't matter where, or when, or how, regardless of how much things change or how much I could change when I keep growing… You'll never be alone. I'm always, always going to be there for you. In the same way that you have always been there for me. –He said, concluding his speech with a kiss in Twilight's horn.

NOTE FROM TRANSLATOR: *This fic was made before season 3 ended

For thousandth time in the day, tears rolled out of her eyes. She approached her face to Spike's and gave him a big kiss in his cheek, before she hugged him.

–Thanks, Spike, thanks a lot. I know I don't tell you this… I know I've never said it as often as I should… But I love you. I love you a lot. –Spike felt his heart flying, touching the moon and quickly running back to his chest. "Answer, Spike!" "C'mon man, answer! SAY YOU LOVE HER!" "They're four damn words: I LOVE YOU TOO" "Don't be a coward!" Spike yelled at himself in his head.

–Spike? –Asked Twilight after a long while of not receiving an answer from the dragon

–Huh? Everything's okay! – "YOU'RE A COWARD!"

–Can I ask you a favor? – She asked shyly

–What favor?

–Could we… Do you care if we sleep hugged? –Twilight thanked that at the position they were Spike couldn't see her face, because she was sure that a strong red had started to form in her cheeks.

–Of course I don't bother! I like it when we hug. – Said Spike, getting red as well.

They separated a moment to get comfortable, take one of the pillows and one of the blankets to cover themselves. Spike rested on his left side extending his right arm for Twilight. She leaned facing Spike, letting herself wrap in the arms of her protector, he covering them both in the process.

–Are you comfortable? –

–A lot. Good night, Spike. My number 1 assistant. –She said, cuddling with Spike like a puppy in the search for his mother's heat.

–Good night, Twi. My favorite sorcerer. –He said, petting her mane to relax her.

Twilight let the feelings of her proximity with Spike and his petting take over her. She heard the din of nature each time more and more distant, same as her fear. She sighed one last time before falling asleep, feeling more safe and comfortable than any time in her life.

Twilight slowly came from the world of dreams opening her eyelids, encountering with a light green screen in front of her face, which confused her, because none of her blankets or pillows had that color. Besides she noticed how one of her blankets felt heavier than usual. She rubbed her eyes a moment before distinguishing where and with who she was. At first she was a little surprised, but soon she began to remember the events of the past night that led her to her actual position.

Twilight was surprised that she was the first in being awake, since that was something that rarely happened, if not never. But she supposed it was normal since Spike had to be very tired after having to come back from Canterlot in record time by himself. Careful of not wakening him she separated from his arm so she could stretch her body. When looking at his assistant from the light that filtered from the windows upstairs, Twilight gasped surprised seeing Spike's body. He had several bruises, scrapes and what seemed to be a cut in the back of his neck. Did he face a herd of hungry tigers?

–…The hurricane. –Twilight remembered how in her desperate escape from the hurricane four years ago the wind had occasioned her multiple wounds with the objects it was carrying.

But Spike hadn't ran from the wind, he went to his source to be able to get to Twilight. He really had risked his life for going for her, and if it weren't for his armored skin he probably would have been torn apart before getting to Ponyville. He didn't even have taken the time to heal his wound in order to protect her.

–Oh, Spike, I'm so sorry… –She whispered covering his body with her's and kissing him in the cheek several times, while her horn started shining throwing a medical spell over his wounds.

Spike woke up from his dreams when he felt the odd effects of magic and displays of affection of the unicorn.

–Twilight, what are you doing!? –He screamed, exalted at watching her laying on him.

–I… was healing your wounds and… gave you some kisses in the cheek. Is there something bad with that? –

–No, but… you surprised me. What a way to wake up. –

–I'm sorry. If I weren't so coward you wouldn't have had to come here. You really could have killed yourself just for coming to take care of me. – Said a very ashamed Twilight.

Spike incorporated sitting in front of her.

–Tell me, Twilight, what do dragons do really well? –Twilight raised her left brow, confused by the off topic question.

–They exhale fire? –

–Yes, but what else? –

–They eat jewels? –

–No. –

–Live for thousands of years? –

–No. –

–They have skin armored by scales that can be strong as diamonds? –She asked , frustrated.

–They protect their treasures. –He said like it was an obvious thing. Twilight remained silent. –You're my biggest treasure, Twi. And if for getting here I could have to lose my back legs, I'd still come. And it's not for recklessness, but for determination. Because you're THAT important to me.

Twilight sighed, not being able to understand the resolution of her dragon, so she just hugged him again. –Thanks, Spike. –

–That's better. Do you want breakfast? –

–No, let's… let's sleep a Little more time. I'm still more sleepy than hungry. –

–As you wish. –He said, leaning over his back.

For his surprise, Twilight leaned her body on his', resting her head at his neck. Covering them both again with the blanket.

–And well? What are you waiting? –She asked innocently.

–What do you mean? –

–Hug me, dummy. –

–Oh, sure. –

–Hey, Spike, What you said last night about you never leaving me alone… was it serious? –Asked Twilight without looking at his eyes.

–With all my heart. –He said with a smile that she imitated before travelling to the world of dreams, protected by the hug of her dear dragon.
