This is my first ever internet published story, so I'm really not sure what to say up in here, but I guess I'll say this: its not just going to be of Belle and Rumple's life with baby or two. It's about them discovering the children and family they could have, and how they get there. With that being said I do not own OUAT or the fairy tales or the characters they use.
When Dorothy was just a new born babe she was a fussy sleeper; no matter how much Belle would rock, sing, or feed her. Or how Rumple would paces/rock/bounce her, Dorothy would not sleep for more then half an hour.
One night when Dorothy was being her fussy self, Rumple had moved his wheel into the living room. As Belle nursed and rocked her Papa Spun, Dorothy's eyes became heavy. Gradually Dorothy slept for longer periods of time. Till one week she had slept a full five hours.
Belle and Rumple were o cores thankful; there was just one problem: Dorothy had come a custom to falling asleep to the sound of her Papa's wheel turning.
When he would stop, in about five to Ten minuets Dorothy would wake up and be fussier then ever. So Rumple would spin, and Dorothy would sleep soundly.
Rumple didn't mined spinning for his little girl. He would gladly spin for her, hours on end. When morning's light would come, Belle would wake, feed and change Dorothy, and Rumple could sleep.
One day, while Rumple had gone to sleep, and Dorothy was being cranky with her Mama. She softly began to cry, not wailing yet; just crying enough to give herself the hiccups. Belle passed in the living room as she burped Dorothy. She knew if she didn't act fast her daughter would eventually wail and wake her Papa. Belle knew Rumple used the wheel to calm their baby girl.
'I could spin for her, if he can; you just turn the wheel. How hard could it be?' She thought to herself as she finished burping Dorothy, Belle placed her in the bassinet that sat in the lazy boy rocker beside the wheel. She turned the chair so she could see Dorothy wiggle her little arms and lags in her onesie. Belle removed the spindle as Rumple had told her that the sound of the wheel turning and wood squeaking is what lulls sweet Dorothy to sleep.
Belle had watched Rumple spin at the dark castle. She knew from watching to turn it towards her left and pushed her hand on the other side of the wheel and out ward, down and letting it turn. She grabbed a throw pillow and placed it on the little stool. Belle sat and began to spin. Belle's spinning soon had Dorothy sound asleep. The squeaking of the wood as it turned had indeed calmed her soft cries. Belle spun till it was time to change Dorothy. Belle left the wheel as it was and carried Dorothy up to the nursery.
She had become a custom to talking to Dorothy as she did things with her daughter alone. If anyone was with the two she would just baby talk; but alone it was mama and daughter time. Alone she would confide in the only daughter. When Belle had learned she was to become a mother she was of cores over joyed; but also she wanted to be the mother she had, but lost to death when the ogre wars had began to engulf Avolonea. She was a young woman when it happened; soon after she had summoned Rumple and accepted his terms that would one day bring about their daughter. She gave herself comfort in knowing her mother had got to hold her, feed, talk, shear, cloth, love, and give her, her love of books.
Belle wanted to be a strong rock for Dorothy as her mother had; Rumple assured her it would be like Belle taking a breath. She wanted to show Dorothy things her mother had: cooking, sowing, painting, writing, and all sorts of bazaar skills Rumple, even her father still had no idea Belle knew how to do. Most of all Belle wanted to be the same mother Dorothy would know she could come to for anything, as her mother had bean. To confide in, to talk to about anything she needed.
Belle quickly crept to the nursery past the shared bedroom. She held sleeping Dorothy in her bassinet, in one hand and slowly opening the nursery door with the other. She sat the bassinet in its holder and gently picked up Dorothy and slid her to her chest in her arms. She began to rock/bounce Dorothy awake.
"Good morning love, its time for a change."
Belle laid her on the changing table and unsnapped the lags of Dorothy's white with yellow flowers onesie and unfastened her dipper. As she cleaned Dorothy, her mama told her sweet things. Things she hoped for her: adventure, a loving happiness, to always feel safe with her family and that she would always know they would all be there for each other.
"There, now, we need to find you something nice to wear. Grandpa is coming for lunch to see you. He must miss you already; he only saw you just yesterday." Belle teased. "But I'm glad he comes to see you and Papa three times a week. I've missed him a very long time."
Belle then unsnapped the rest of Dorothy's onesie. She then placed her in the bassinet and tucked her in to keep her worm. Belle went over to a furnished wardrobe Rumple had brought home, saying: "She can use it properly when she's older, keep her best dresses in it."
Belle had already started keeping them in there. She pulled out one her two aunts: Gina and Zina, had given her. It was red with puffy crinoline under the bottom of the dress. There was a black silk sash under the chest to skirt line, and little velvet polka dots sown or stuck onto the skirt of the dress. The dress had also came with a red headband with little black antennae and little red, sparkly shoes; with red little straps and black toe tips and soft black tiny lagging tights. Earning it the name: 'the lady bug dress'.
After clothing her little Dorothy, Belle picked up the bassinet and quietly made her way back down stairs. She placed Dorothy back in the chair to face the wheel as before. Soon as she was settled back on the spinning stool Belle began to spin the wheel. This time Belle continued to talk with Dorothy.
"Maybe you're Grandpa will take you for a walk and, you're papa and I can stay here. I miss you're papa; we haven't seen each other for 'bedtime' lately. We love you very much Dorothy, but you're sleeping habits are keeping you're papa and I apart." Dorothy only yawned and cooed back.
"Oh my darling Belle, I miss you to; but someone needs to spin the wheel for her and it's not like she'll have the sleeping habits of a baby forever."
Belle turned from the wheel with a slight jump to see Rumple coming from the stairs fully dressed and showered. Unlike Belle; still in her nightgown, house cote, and a chestnut bed head. Rumple walked to his wife and kissed her forehead. Then he moved to her pink lips.
"And I see you're doing a fine job at the wheel."
Belle smiled and kissed him back before returning to spinning the wheel. Rumple walked over to see Dorothy and saw the ladybug dress.
"Oh dearie, dearie, dear my Dorothy! What has you're mama put you in?" Rumple baby talked over the bassinet.
Belle laughed as Dorothy reached for her papa; making crab hands up at him. Rumple picked her up and held her so her head was resting on his shoulder. Belle had stopped turning the wheel and was about to tell her husband she was going to shower and dress for the lunch date when there was a knock on the kitchen side door.
I hope you enjoyed this I must apologize for the wait. It took along time but we finally got in. I'm so excited to post chapter 2, I thought introducing Dorothy in a family flash back would be best before diving in, which is exactly what chap-2 is without further wait, here's Dorothy Gold.
