He's fine

Sorry about not posting last week...I sorta forgot ^^''

I once had a situation, where people were saying to take the chance before it becomes too late. Now I ain't very good at these sort of things so I did what I could, but it wasn't enough. Anyway, hope you enjoy.

"Last chance before she leaves man," the blonde whispered into his friend's ear.

"Shut up Naruto, I know," Shikamaru replied.

Naruto laughed. "If you say so, just go."

The lazy young man sighed, walking off towards Temari.

"Hey."

She turned around. "Oh, hey."

They continued walking together towards the gate. "So guess you're going home then, hey?"

She kept walking. "Yeah, I probably won't be back for a while too."

"That's too bad."

"It will be good to stay at home for a while though, so at least there's a good point in it."

Shikamaru tried to smile. "Yeah, I guess that is a good thing."

The rest of the walk consisted of a very awkward silence between them, at least for him.

They reached the gate, Shikamaru even wanted the moment to be over.

"Well, I guess I'll see you later."

"A lot later," she replied, trying to part with light words.

They both began walking opposite directions.

"Yeah, a lot later indeed."

When she was out of view, Naruto appeared.

"So?"

Shikamaru looked at him with a bored expression. "So what?"

"What happened?" He asked.

Shikamaru looked behind him briefly, as if trying to find her for a moment, before continuing to walk off.

"Nothing happened."

"Nothing?" Naruto reacted, surprised.

"Nothing at all."

A few months away from Konoha made her really miss the place.

Temari walked passed the gate, smiling. She did miss this place, even if she'd never say so.

"Now to find that escort of mine."

"Ambassador Temari?"

She turned around, seeing a young man she didn't know.

"Who are you?"

"I will be your escort while you're here for the next few days."

"What about the Nara man?"

"Shikamaru? He just returned from a mission and requested a break from anything else for a while."

She looked out into the village, thinking about what to do.

"It doesn't matter, I've been here plenty of times, and I don't think I'll need an escort any more. Please tell Tsunade this and I will confirm this later."

She took out a document. "Give this to her as proof that it is me."

The man took it, slightly confused, but did as he was told. "Alright then."

With that, he left.

Temari decided to look around before meeting Tsunade. She wanted to catch up briefly with a couple of people now that she was here.

As these thoughts came to her, Shikamaru came into view.

"Hey! Lazy ass!"

He turned around, surprised.

"Oh, Temari, it's been a while. How are you?"

"Alright, I've only been here a few minutes and I am already bored."

Shikamaru chuckled. "Well, you should enjoy yourself while you're here then."

Temari smiled. "Alright, how about you join me?"

Shikamaru gave almost an awkward expression. "Sorry, not tonight, I've got a date with Ino. We haven't had a chance to do so since I returned."

"Ino?"

"Yeah..."

Temari's smile fell slightly.

"Maybe tomorrow?"

"Oh, um, I won't be here tomorrow," she lied. "It's only going to be a quick meeting with Tsunade."

"Too bad, you've been gone for a while and it's going to be a short visit when you finally have a chance to return."

"Yeah."

Shikamaru looked around for the time. "I've got to get to Ino now, so I guess I'll see you next time?"

"Yeah, I guess so."

She arrived home a couple of days later, with Kankuro at home to greet her.

"So, how was your favourite lazy Leaf ninja?"

She walked past him, closing her bedroom door behind her.

She sat down, leaning her back to the door.

"He's doing fine."

End.
