The coming
of a Warrior: the story of Grey Fang
He walked into the meeting and took his seat. Most of the people in there looked him over. He stood just over 5 feet tall, but was all muscle. He wore blue jeans, a white t-shirt, a blacj cycle vest and black boots. At his side hung his weapon of choice, a war Hammer. His blond hair was pulled back into a pony tail and his blue eyes looked over the room. He sat in his chair and waited until he was called.
When it came his time, he stood up. "Hello, my name is Jeff Odinson, but I am known as Grey Fang by my friends and enemies", he said to the group. The group acknowledged his name. "It has been 730 days since my last drink. I guess I should start at the begining so you know my tale."
"I was raised in the German community norht of Millewuake Wisconsin. I never knew my father and my mother was killed when I was very young. I was raised by my grandfather and my aunt. When I was about 15, I went through the First Change while I was having sex with a woman. Actually I had my way with her as part of a initiation into a group I was pledging. That is when I had my first drink of beer."
"As I grew older, I had pledged to the Get of Fenris and moved up in the small group I belonged to. After a while I learned that I had a brother and we grew close. We also drank alot too. At times all we did was drink. We were sent down to Chicago to check on a small sept that lived there. We moved in and took over as Alpha and Beta."
"Most of my memories there are an alcoholic blurr. I remeber Jack and Gig and Lady Macbeth. It was during this time that I had gotten my hammer from a dying Get, but that is all I can remeber. THere was some adventures, but I can;t remebr them all. It was during this time that I met Slash, Tut and Daddy. It was during this time that I lost my brother."
"A group of Spyrals enterd the Sept and killed my brother. The rest of us had made it into the Umbra, but a stray bullet hit our still and he died in the explosion. I saw him die."
"Once in the Umbra, I felt a change happening in me. I felt all of the alcohol being purged from my body. It felt like it was being pulled out by red hot hooks. It went deep into my being, pulling at the very core of my body. It was intense pain, but it also in a weird way, felt quite good. Once we exited the Umbra, I felt weak, but carried on as to not show my weakness to the others."
"That was the first day that I did not need alcohol to get me through anything. I could see clearly and my thoughts wasn't fuzzy. I pulled my small band of Garou together and we became a pack that day."
"The one person I credit with my recovery was my Beta, Slash. Although she is a Furrie, and technically we are not supposed to get along, she is my sister. I couldn't have made it without her. In the time since my recovery, I have grown close to all of my pack. They have become a family to me. And also I credit my wife too. Without her love, I think I may have slipped back into the booze."
"We are a motley bunch. We are of diffeent tribes, but we don;t look at ourselves that way. We are family and we will stand and fight with each other and help each other. I couldn't love them anymore than I already do."
"I guess you could say that by giving up the alcohol, I gained the respect and love of the pack I was sent to look after in the first place. Although we have lost alot of freinds and allies, we are strong and I am strnger because of them"
He sat back down and continued the night looking around and hearing the stories from the rest of the Garou who attended these AA meetings. He liked coming here and looked forward to meeting each one after the night had ended.
