Title: Embrace

Date written: August.11.2004

Notes: The fanfic is based on one of the special events in Flanoir and contains the greatest of spoilers in the game.

This story is short and a little AU-ish. Some would say I should make it longer but in my opinion it's better to end it just the way it is. I'm a direct person who likes to get to the point. Besides I assume that everyone knows what happens to Lloyd's mother…

Please feel free to point out my grammar mistakes. Grammar is not my strong suit.

Special thanks: To Urby to point out the weak tenses.

Pairing: Kratos/Lloyd as father and son. Be thankful for no incest, I don't condone that sort of thing.

Lloyd stared at the locket. He opened it, only to reveal a small picture that has been captured to freeze a moment that has been long lost and faded in time. It's a picture of him as baby being coddled in the arms of his smiling parents when they are both alive. Silence followed. Soon the tears flow from his eyes.

"Kratos…" He sniffled. "Thank you."

"I don't know any other way to make it up to you. So please forgive me…"

But Lloyd wants something more than the locket. His habit to loose his control over his head sets in and he let his emotions overwhelms him as he threw himself at his true father and hugs him tightly.

Kratos, hesitated for a moment. He wanted to cry too. He searches for any ideas to gently dispel his son's tears of newfound painful longing and loneliness. He blames himself in remorse that he inflicts unnecessary pain unto his own son's heart. Beside the constant betrayals, he makes it worse by hiding the truth of his identity and the reality of his mother's death.

But Lloyd surprised him and proven that he is strong. His own son is strong enough to forgive him for his mistakes by throwing himself to him and asked succinctly to be accepted and be whole and complete.

Finally, in response, Kratos embraces him and said a phrase that has been lost in his memories and his son's for the last 14 years which was a cooing lullaby-like line of reassurance that is used to soothe his son's random cries and tantrums when he was a baby. Gently, Kratos whispered, "Don't cry my son. Daddy's here."
