Screeeech. Thump! Screams. "MARINETTE!" a male voice screams. Darkness.

"Where….am I…?" the raven haired girl looked around in the darkness. "Why is everything so dark?" A soft crying echoed behind her. She turned and took in a sharp breath. There, sitting in a soft glow was a little girl in a red and black polka-dotted dress, crying into her fists.

"I'm scared." the little dark haired girl whimpered. "It's dark."

"Hey." Marinette knelt beside her. "Don't cry. You're safe." She jerked her hand away from the girl's head when it lifted up. Staring back at her, was a younger form of herself. "Wha-..."

"We're dying, though." The small bluebell eyes were full of tears. "Kitty couldn't get to us in time."

"We're-I'm dying?"

"Don't leave me alone!" The little girl threw herself into her older self's arms. "I don't wanna die!"

"I… don't want to die."

Marinette's vision filled with a white light. A soft beeping filled her ears. She closed her eyes hard, then reopened them. her eyes adjusting to the harsh light of the hospital room she was in. A blur of auburn hair obscured her vision as she was pulled into a tight hug. "Mari!" sobbed her best friend.

"Al...ya…?" her own voice surprised her. It was raspy and muffled. It was then she realized that air was being forced into her lungs. She reached up and started to pull the mask away. Only for her friend to stop her.

"Mari, you can't take that off." Alya's brown eyes sparkled with tears. "You almost died."
