Troupe bingo prompt: Mistletoe kiss
Alphonse was kind of amused.
He really shouldn't be. He has been watching his big brother and Winry do this for years especially around Christmas time….especially during the annual Christmas party. They would give each other the same brief looks and smiles…and the same avoiding of the mistletoe.
Not everyone was avoiding it. Guests and couples were kissing under it with glee. It made him smiling. It was kind of funny that it wasn't always like this. Their mom always told them on how their first Christmas party that they tried to eat the mistletoe. She told them that she was surprised that they didn't get sick. Another time, his big brother stole the mistletoe and tried to hide it. (They found it under the sofa.) Another year from what his mom told, Winry stole it and determined everyone to kiss her.
For the record, she hated that story and banned anyone for telling it.
So, every year…someone retell it…much to her embarrassment.
Another year, there was no mistletoe because of the drought.
Another year, there was no mistletoe because their mom has passed.
Another year, he was a soul trapped in a suit of armor.
It would be many more years before he would be at one of these parties again. It was kind of like coming fill circle. He rather liked the idea.
"Is something wrong, Al? Not enjoying the party?" Granny's voice said behind him. He turned around in his chair and smiled.
"No…No…Just a little tired," He said as he turned back around and watched. He has regained much of his former strength. Every once in awhile, his body will tell him otherwise and he would need to rest.
"Ahhh….yes, parties can be a very tiring affair."
He nodded his head as he continued to watch the dancing and chatting around the room. His eyes fall to Winry and his big brother chatting in a corner.
"Do you think that they will finally kiss?" She said.
"Granny!"
She laughed.
"I know that you have noticed those two."
"Of course. Big Brother let it slip a few times and I know they have been watching each other when they think the other isn't looking. Sometimes, I wish that they would say something. I think partly they are scared. They are scared that everything would change if they did. You can say that they are stuck outside a dance. They aren't sure of becoming each other dance partner. They don't know if they were stay together or something will separate them. Once they take the first step, I think that they will be alright."
"Sometimes, I think that you are too wise for your own, Al," She said softly.
A comfortable silence fill between them as the music continued to play around them.
"Hmmm…how we get up there and see if we can get those two under some mistletoe?"
"Granny…that would be kind of mean."
She snorted.
"Not mean. Just want to get it moving along and I have some credits on the line."
He laughed then turned his attention back to his big brother. Ed must noticed or something and looked away from Winry and waved at him. He smiled and waved back.
Sense of joy and peace washed over him. Finally, he felt that they have come full circle.
He rather liked that feeling.
