Robbie was mad. Cat had broken Rex. He understood that it was an accident but still she should have been more careful.

"Just for that," Robbie said, "You can't come to my party that I'm having"

Robbie was having a huge party. Everyone was excited about it. Cat couldn't wait to come. She had been talking about it all week.

That'll teach her, he thought smugly then stormed off. Cat immediately burst into heaping sobs

Robbie didn't think about the incident until later that day when he got to school. He turned to corner and saw Cat in tears crying so hard she couldn't breathe.

"Cat," he asked, "What's wrong"

He rushed over to her.

"WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN," she yelled crying

"Just… why are you upset," he asked gently.

"Because… I… was… looking… forward… to… your… party… and… now… I… can't... go… and… you… don't… even… wanna… be… my… friend… anymore"

After finishing her thought she burst into hysterical tears again. Instantly Robbie felt sick. He couldn't believe he made Cat cry… and over a puppet of all things.

"Cat I am so sorry," he said, "I was angry. I was upset. I know you didn't mean to break Rex"

He wiped away her tears with his thumb.

"But I did," Cat said, "and it cost me my best friend"

"Cat," he said, "I love you. I would never stop being your friend over anything. I wouldn't stop being your friend over a puppet"

"But you said I couldn't go to the party," Cat said sobbing again

"It wouldn't be a party without you there," Robbie said, "You're what GIVES any event life."

Once again he dried her eyes.

"Look," he said, "I didn't mean what I said earlier. I had a really bad day the other day. My car broke down on the way to school. I was late by 4 hours. I actually got a 3 ½ hour detention for accidentally knocking a student down with my books-"

"That sounds like a horrible day," Cat said.

"Yeah so when Rex broke it was like the straw that broke the camel's back. It was a terrible end to a terrible day. It's kind of like when someone's upset and says something they don't mean"

"Kind of like," Cat said sniffling, "That's exactly what it is."

"Okay," Robbie said chuckling, "It's the same thing. For all intent and purposes you're the best of the best and I'm the idiot who said the taboo thing. I know I don't deserve it but I'm asking you from my heart and soul… forgive me"

Cat broke into a smile

"KK," she said giving him a hug.
