Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight, or Gallup, NM. I have decided that I own Ashley and Kasey, which are actually my Twilight-obsessed best friend and me. Enjoy! Edward's POV, for your information.
It was monsoon season in Gallup, NM and my family and I was visiting for three days, making our way through our road trip, which was going through and stopping at all the towns on Route 66. Alice had announced that it was to rain and thunder around 5:40 p.m., and we agreed to go play baseball.
We soon arrived at the Foxx Run Golf Course, it was closed and no one was there. We went up a little into the Mesas, and set up the large baseball field. Carlisle, Jasper, Emmett and I ran around, as Esme, Alice, Rosalie and Bella sat around talking. We assumed teams, Bella and Esme refereeing.
As the first clap of thunder hit, I heard a faint yell. Then, a loud and clear voice shouted, "play ball, Cullens". My family and I looked at each other, each of us confused. I began inhaling, searching for a scent, and finally found one. I took off, and they ran after me, desperate to see who this human was.
We soon arrived at one of the residential areas of Gallup, near the Little Sisters Of The Poor. We scurried over to the backyard, which was fenced in, with brick walls surrounding most of the area, and found two girls, dancing around in the rain. One had strawberry blonde hair, with dark brown eyes and glasses. The other had a mix between blonde and red hair, yet it looked different from the others, and brown eyes. Both were dressed in pajamas.
The first girl, dressed in a pair of gray shorts and a pink and gray striped top, yelled "Ashley, show me how you dance, please?" The other one, dressed in a pair of white shorts and a white Hannah Montana t-shirt, replied "no way Kasey, I would rather go to the ballet studio with James then dance!" The rest of them exchanged glances, their eyes growing wide.
They smiled at each other, and plopped down on the sidewalk, which was speckled with raindrops. "I wonder what the Cullens are doing right now?" Kasey asked Ashley, a dreamy look crossing over her face. I scanned her thoughts, and was surprised when I heard: if I was with Edward instead of Bella, I would so be making out with that hot vampire in the rain. Mmmmm, that would be nice.
Ashley giggled, probably knowing whom Kasey was thinking about, and replied "probably playing vampire baseball with Carlisle, Esme, Jasper, Alice, Emmett, Rosalie and Bella. I mean, hey, it's the American pastime". Kasey nodded, and fell on to her back, gazing up at the sky. Ashley followed suit, and they closed their eyes as the rain began to fall on them.
We had now fallen to the floor, sitting with our ears pressed against the rust painted gate. "How does she know who we are, what we are, and our names?" Emmett asked, shaking his head. Rosalie wore fury, Carlisle concern, Jasper confusion, Alice, Bella and Esme fear and worry, and I was with Jasper, confused.
We watched as they exited the house, each coming back with a book, Kasey's hardback and Ashley's paperback. They were both black, with two pale hands stretching outward, holding a blood red apple. The book was titled "Twilight" and was by a "Stephenie Meyer". They stretched out and began reading from a book marked place, gasps coming from them occasionally.
The rain began coming down harder, and they dashed inside, giggling and shielding the books by hunching over them. As we watched, Carlisle shook his head, saying, "they don't seem like a threat. This never happened, agreed?" We all nodded our heads, chorusing "agreed". Then we ran off towards the field, leaving Kasey and Ashley to their lives.
