Prologue:
Harry watched as Draco led Hermione to the center of the floor. By now, all eyes were on the pair, most, wide with shock and the rest, greatly amused.
*You give your hand to me
And then you say hello*
The song was a familiar Muggle song and Harry found out in time that his hands were cold and clammy and that his breath was coming in wheezes for some reason he couldn't come up with at the moment. He tried to look away from the two but his eyes wouldn't obey.
*And I can hardly speak
My heart is beating so*
He watched with immovable interest as Draco asked Hermione a question which he could only guess to be about the latter's near betrayal of the light side. But it wasn't the words that came out of Draco's mouth that he noticed but the slight curve that formed on Hermione's lips when she answered him. She was smiling. He could tell.
*And anyone can tell
You think you know me well But you don't know me*
He knew right then that she was falling. It was pretty obvious. Even to the dense and those in denial. But he also knew that he still had time.if only he would tell her right now how he felt.for her.
*No you don't know the one
Who dreams of you at night And longs to kiss your lips
Longs to hold you tight*
Harry sat back at his chair and sighed-a deep sigh of retreat. If only he could.but he knew he wouldn't-he couldn't.
*Oh, I am just a friend
That's all I've ever been
Cause you don't know me*
He watched her whisper words to his ear. Watched her sigh. Watched her smile. And despite the dreaded pain that was pulsing in his chest, he found himself smiling too. She was happy. He knew she was happy. And for this, he felt happy too.
*I never knew the art of making love
Now my heart aches with love for you Afraid and shy I let my chance go by
The chance that you might love me too*
She wrapped her arms around him and he sunk his hand in her brown hair. They were a pretty sight. It could have been him in Draco's place.dancing with Hermione, holding her and whispering sweet nothings in her ear. But all he could do was dream about it. And while he was dreaming, the dream took shape and form right before his very eyes. Only, he wasn't the one in it.
*You give your hand to me
And then you say goodbye I watch you walk away beside the lucky guy*
The crowd around them murmured excitedly. Some were even clapping. Professor Dumbledore's eyes were twinkling, Snape was looking ghostly white, and Mcgonagall was crying. Only one person had a different expression on his face-Harry who was staring quietly at the pair.
*Oh you will never know
The one who loves you so
Well you don't know me*
He loved her. That one thing stands. And though he just sat there watching, deep inside he knew what he had to do. He had to find himself, be lost no more. Then find her. And get her back.
A/N: I hope you guys liked that flashback! Being a sequel to the first fic "Through A Looking Glass", this scene already took place in their fifth year in Hogwarts-only it was told in Harry's POV. And we never really knew how exactly he felt for our dear Hermione then.now we do! Hurrah! What do you think of it? Read and review! It's much appreciated!
