Hello, readers! I feel good today! So good that I felt like writing a oneshot for somebody! And that somebody is none other than the great Aranae, known for her stories 'The Rise of the Phoenix' and 'Ghosts of the Past, Shadows of the Future'. Why? Because I can!
We asked her what she wanted the oneshot to be about, and she said surprise her, and we did. Surprise!
Aranae, this is for you!
Disclaimer: I don't own anything that isn't mine. Specifically, this AU and the OC belong to Aranae, and everything else belongs to Square-Enix. I own the poem.
The Light in Me
By RenzokukenZ
All my life I've lived in a shadow
Afraid of the light
Never going so far as a window
Avoiding all sight
The demons in me taking control
Leaving destruction in their wake
I just want to end it all
For it is too much to take
Then from the depths of my darkness
You appeared with radiance rivaling the sun
The light flooded my soul and the harness
Binding me to plight was gone
You gave me a second chance
To live my life anew
One that I won't waste in angst
And all I have to give is a promise to you
No matter where you are or how far you may be
My love for you will never die, like the light in me

Two women were sitting at a table inside the Seventh Heaven bar, their eyes tracing the piece of paper at the center. One of them was the owner of the bar, a brunette with ruby eyes, and the other was her dear friend, a young woman with long black strands and blue eyes, a blush forming on her cheeks. The barmaid reached for the paper for a closer look, scanning every word as if such words couldn't exist.
"…I still can't believe that Vincent, Vincent of all people, could write such moving poetry. Are you sure it's his, Lilah?" The barmaid asked the young woman, whose blush only became deeper.
"Give me that, Tifa!" Lilah snagged the poem from Tifa's strong hands and placed it back on the table. "Of course he wrote it. I recognized his handwriting immediately."
"Then why are you being so weird about it?"
"It's because…I didn't know he cared about me that much. I mean, we just got back together so this is somewhat of a shock." She rested her chin on the table, her sapphire eyes still locked on the poetic piece. "It's just so deep. Does Cloud write poetry like that?"
Tifa gave a soft chuckle and shook her head, a few brunette bangs going over her eyes. "Please. To him, the sword is mightier than the pen. But I wouldn't worry too much, Lilah. Vincent loves you, and it shows, especially after he poured his heart out to write these magnificent words. You're a lucky gal, Lilah." The barmaid then gave Lilah a quick pat on the shoulder and resumed her spot behind the counter, leaving the young woman to ponder thoughts. It was just strange to her that Vincent felt that way about her, that she meant so much.
And yet, she felt the exact same way about him as a smile formed on her lips and read the poem again.
Aw, so sweet. In case you don't know who Lilah is, she's Aranae's flagship OC and a kick ass character. Check her out if you don't believe me.
Dude, what are you doing? Advertising?
I don't know what you are talking about.
Well, that was fun. I hope everyone enjoys it, especially you, Aranae! How's that for a surprise?
(Sighs) Please read and review…
