I found you.
Lying in the desert dunes of the Hidden Sand's Great Desert, you were alone and completely defenseless. As I approached you, your aura filled my senses...and I immediately halted my advance towards you. Your inner-self, filled only with anger, hate, sorrow, rage, and betrayal, shocked me. Not because of how vile it seemed...but because of how similar it was to mine. With wary eyes I approached, and as you took great effort to lift your head to see me, the same caution I felt was reflected in your eyes.
I couldn't help it...I became intrigued.
And so, I listened to you twine your tale; a tale of once living in a far off village, of being bonded to your 'precious someone' for eternity...and of the incident that ripped it all away from you. I watched you, a filthy rogue, huddle against the buffet of a sudden sandstorm, its winds harsh and unpredictable. Then suddenly, surprising myself, I heard my voice speak.
"Would you like to come join the Village Hidden in the Sand?"
I watched as your whole body tensed and as your eyes looked up to meet mine. I continued to speak, telling you of my Village, and what you would come to know if you decided to follow me. Your eyes were constantly at war with your body...emotions raged continuously, even after I came to a close with my words. For some reason, I remember, I came to realize...I did not want you to refuse. So I heard myself speak once more, my voice calm and blank.
"However, if you choose to follow me and become a ninja of the Sand...you must make a vow to me. You must vow to always stay at my side, and to become my Elite Personal Bodyguard. I will accept you no other way than this."
Again you stiffened...but I knew. This time, it was different.
I had no need to ask you again.
I turned and began the walk back to the Village...with my Bonded Fool following, close behind.
