Prefer PG13 for Drabbles.
I'd like to request a Caldwell POV on Weir & his attraction to her (sigh).

Col. Steven Caldwell nodded to a soldier in the hall as he headed towards Dr. Weir's office. A few still gave him weird looks after the Goa'uld incident but everything was pretty much back to normal.

He paused in the door way to watch her for a moment.

She wasso strong, standing tall in a situation she has no control over. He likes that about her, hell he thinks he might even love that about her. Loves the way she balances her strength and femininity.

They didn't get along at first and its mostly his fault he knows. He probably would have made it even worse when they'd first met if he hadn't gotten distracted by the angle of her neck when she turned her head.

He likes her nature too. She forgave him after the Goa'uld incident and she trusts her people explicitly. He does too, but he wouldn't haven forgiven so quickly.

He's dealt with civilians commanders before, the SGC has plenty and most of them are damn good people, but none of them were or are as competent as her, though that might just be the situation talking. Its why he's never mentioned that they had offered him command of the whole operation, not just the military.

McKay knows, he thinks, there's little the man doesn't know, but McKay's nothing if not brilliant and a die hard civilian, so of course he's not going to mention it because he wants a civilian in charge, besides he's second in command of the whole operation and as much as Caldwell hates to even think about it, in fight Weir's more likely to die thenMcKay is.

He wonders how many people realize McKay would be in charge if she died? She'd probably have round the clock security form the soldiers if they knew'cause he's seen the way McKay torments them.

He thinks McKay might know about the other thing too.

The thing were he watches her when she talks or walks, the thing were he losses their chess matches and arguments on purpose, but McKay probably wont say anything about that either because he considers her a friend and he's already hinted that she might watch him too.

Though judging from McKay's date with Dr. Brown he's not an expert on these things.

She's a damn good negotiator too, calm, smooth, unbreakable voice; steady, dry, warm hands. And a warm smile that belies her strength and determination.

He loves her body too, naturally, and her mind, whip sharp and willowy and at the same time she seems so fragile, so close to breaking if you pushed to hard. He made a vow to kill whoever pushed to far and wonders if he'll ever get the chance to protect her the way he wants too.

Maybe he'll get the chance, after all war makes for strange bed fellows and marriage is the greatest war. He fingered the ring in his pocket, she'd look good in gold and perals.

Elizabeth looked up when Caldwell cleared his throat. He was standing in the doorway, a box of Godiva chocolates, a chess set, and a bottle of Arbor Mist under his arm. He smiled and Elizabeth felt her stomach flutter and smiled back.
