The pale hands flashed over the keys. Music came flooding through the room. It was beautiful that music, so haunting, so captivating that it made grown men pause. The young man, his name Merlin, moved along with the beat as he played. His thoughts were on one man who, over the years, had held his heart and lead him to this place, this place that he could play his music over and over again.

The notes stuck low, sorrow, which was what was heard. True grief showed in Merlin's playing then and he falterd over the keys, his thought on that person again and their love lost between them. He never meant to hurt him, never, he just thought it would be safer to stay away. He was no one that many kept around.

The piano them keyed a high tone, happiness for even though he had ended it without wanting to, he still tried to get with merlin, to make merlin his no matter what merlin might think. To tell him he didn't care. Merlin picked up speed, memories going by like the song until they wounded down into a haunting rhythm…..then gone because he was gone. He was dead. Merlin was alone with his heart breaking. He was somewhere watching merlin now and he would never now merlin never meant any of it. Never meant to push him away. Never now that he was glad that he still tried for merlin even when other wouldn't.

Merlin looked out to the sky, the world was black. A whisper came to him then from behind. He turned and saw Arthur, the man who had left and who he loved, smiling at him, merlin shook his head, tears running down his face, he reached out a hand and Arthur grasped it.

"I am so sorry," merlin cried," I love you….i love you. I never wanted you to die for me, Arthur. You should never had pushed me out of the way of that car. I never meant…."

Arthur was just smiling and then leaned forward to kiss him, kiss his lips that were growing ever so cold and then he said, " I know. I did it for you, always. Rest now, love, I know."

Merlin curled up in Arthur's arm to sleep and to never awake in the land of men and only to awake in Arthur's arms. Happy and content and loved.
