Mrs. Knight felt like crying.

All around her, her daughter, Jett, Bhudda Bob, Bitters and other teenagers at the PalmWoods were cheering and dancing along to the music that blared out of the TV. But she felt like crying. It must be a mom thing, she reasoned to herself, something good is happening and I want to do nothing but cry.

She sucked it up the best she could as she watched Kendall, Logan, Carlos, and James perform their song We Are at the Teen Choice awards. It was hard to believe that they had finished their third CD. The future was open to them, they could do whatever they wanted, and she knew that they could do whatever that was. Whether it was to continue the band as long as they wanted, or to split up and go their own way, with each other's support, they were going to go far.

Mrs. Knight rested her cheek in her hand, curling up further into the couch as she thought about their journey.

At the very beginning, Kendall didn't even want to do it, but changed his mind when he thought about bringing all of the guys with him. Though Kendall could be as independent as the next guy, it was no question that he liked to do things with his best friends, whether on the ice, or taking them on a once in a lifetime opportunity. Their first year in LA was hard for all of them. Everything was so overwhelming; the guys had to deal with a producer that did nothing but scream at them, Katie dealt with being lonely in LA, and Mrs. Knight was trying to adjust to having her own kids and adding three new ones to the midst as well as adjusting to LA and making things easier for the boys and Katie to adjust.

She sat back and watched, helping every now and then, as the boys continued to go out and make music. She could admit that the beginning she wasn't sure if it was something that they really wanted or would succeed in, not with so many other people that wanted the same thing or wanted to sabotage them. But as the time went on, she saw how badly they wanted things to go their way; with getting their demos picked and their first concert created, she rooted for them each step of the way.

They continued to get bigger and bigger and she supported them each step of the way, with each achievement and each set back, she gave them advice. Even if they didn't want it, she helped them the best that they could. It wasn't until they had the British Invasion scare that she realized how helpful to them she really was. She had been their momager for a while, but they never actually referred to her as it until she proved to them that it doesn't matter what people think of them.

And in that moment, while watching them perform for thousands of people, she realized that they may not need her to help them anymore. But she was always going to be there for them no matter what. If their performance was any indication, they were going to be fine.

"Mom?" Katie leaned over, noticing the tear tracks on her mother's face. "Are you ok?"

"Yeah." Mrs. Knight nodded and wiped the tears away from her face. She was watching her four boys show the world what they could and the recognition that they deserved, but it wasn't for the recognition. It was for them to be happy and to go as far as they could together and that made her proud. "I'm great."

THE END

A/N: I was disappointed that there wasn't a scene in Big Time Dreams about Mrs. Knight saying how proud she was of the boys (or Kendall in general) and though that this one-shot would make up for it a bit.

Cheers,
