Keeping their heads above water
As they travel place to place
Looking for work because they don't have a penny to their name
Always looking towards the future and never look back
The bond the two men shared was nothing beyond compare
Always looking out for each other no matter what
And George constantly keeping Lennie out of trouble
Telling him to focus on work and not every pretty woman he sees
But one night something horrible happens that no one could foresee
Curley's wife ends up dead and now the cover up begins
Pitting friend against friend ally against ally
Your conscience constantly eating away at you day in and day out
Leaving you with no peace of mind as the dominos begin to fall
You being wondering is it alright to kill
Your friend your traveling companion to spare him all the horror and pain
For the crime that he caused nights before
While you just take everything you have and run and hope for the best
