"A Nice Surprise" Disclaimer: "Star Wars" does not belong to me, it belongs to George Lucas, and I own none of the characters (except any originals), and no profit is made off of this story.

A/N: I originally told this to Seth as a bed-time story, and even though I'm not as big on Anakin and Padmé, I thought that it is something nice and sweet for them. A different tale, Anakin is not Vader, and remains a good Jedi. Feedback is much appreciated. :)
Padmé watched as her husband walked down the path leading to their cozy home. She couldn't wait to tell him the wonderful news!
The door opened slowly, and she greeted him with a kiss.
"How did it go at the Council today?" she asked him softly.
"Good. My Padawan is a fast learner," he replied.
When the Clone Wars ended, Anakin learned the importance of listening to the advice of Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan felt Anakin was ready to become a Jedi Knight. Since then he and Obi-Wan's relationship had greatly improved.
"I have some news to tell you," Padmé said softly.
Anakin turned to her, concerned. "What kind of news?"
She smiled, "The good kind."
Now she had his attention.
"Come outside, it's too hot in here, it's much nicer outside."
"Hot in here?" Anakin thought, "It's fine in here, it's outside that's warm!"
Anakin followed Padmé to the big tree out back. Sitting down next to her, she rested her hand in his.
"What is the news?" Anakin asked, very curiously.
She looked up at him, from where her head lay lightly on his chest. "I'm with child."
At first it was such a shock, not a word he said. "You are?"
"Yes."
Anakin smiled broadly and kissed her forehead, "This is the happiest day of my life!" he paused, "after marrying you of course."
Padmé hit him lightly on the chest, "It better be."
She laid back down on him. "If it's a boy, what do you want to name him?"
Anakin thought hard on this. He'd never thought of naming any children before.
"Luke," he said suddenly.
"Luke?"
"Yes. It just seems like a perfect name." He looked down at her, "And if it's a girl?"
Padmé placed a finger to her lip, "Hmm..." she paused, "Leia." She whispered.
"I like it," Anakin said.
"It just seems like a perfect name."
Anakin took her hands, "Tonight I will make us dinner."
"You will?" Padmé said surprised.
"Yes, on the occasion of our first child."
Helping her up, they walked back towards the house.
"If it's a son, do you think he'll become a Jedi like his father?"
Anakin chuckled, "Let's just hope he's better than me with a lightsaber..."
"You're quite good, I've seen you remember," Padmé replied, knowingly.
"If it's a daughter, think she'll be a Senator one day?"
"Let's just hope she'd be better with words than I," Padmé laughed lightly.
Padmé smiled. "I don't care if the child becomes a Jedi, or a Senator, just as long as he -- or she is happy in life."
As Anakin and Padmé entered their home, they knew one thing: They were happy with their lives, and were being lovingly blessed with a nice surprise.
The End
