I'm still on a bit of a writer's block, so I thought I'd write some one shots to help me get my imagination going again! This one actually came from me mentioning a little something about Edo and rolling down stairs and a friend and I started talking about it and it turned into a story. XD So this is pretty random. 8D;

Rolling

by: highmode

Edo stood in front of a stairway, looking down it's steps. As of late, he'd been so busy going on adventures with Judai and everyone else or dueling in the pro leagues, he had forgotten the last time he had went down a stairway.

Of course now, the memories from when he was young came rushing back. Though a little faster then he would have liked.

It was no more then a couple years after he had learn how to walk, little Edo stood at the top of his stairway, contemplating rolling down them. He has always thought it sounded fun to roll down the stairs, but he had never tried it. Well, now he had the chance to, so he took it. Just as he thought, as little Edo started to roll down the stairs, it was fun! The only problem was, in a few seconds he hit the bottom of the stairway, and being unable to stop himself, he crashed into a near by bookshelf.

The crash and a small cry of pain caught his father's attention immediately, and the man rushed to his son's side. After thoroughly checking the small boy for any major injuries, Papa Phoenix worriedly asked his son what he had been doing to crash into the bookshelf.

Edo, unfazed by the crash, burst with excitement, telling his father how fun it was and how he had always wanted to try rolling down the stairs. But he only got a kind smile and a pat on the head from his father, who told him it was dangerous to do that and he shouldn't do that again.

But the little Phoenix did do it again, many many times. It was almost as if it was something he had to accomplish. Within a few weeks, Edo had mastered rolling down the stairs. He'd ready himself before tumbling down the stairs and landing perfectly upright, on his feet. Being very proud, he showed it off to his father a couple times, maybe ending with some kind of cheesy, heroic, pose.

Soon his little trick became an habit. Every time he was to walk down a stairway it was just ever so tempting to roll down those steps! Little Edo found rolling down stairs to be far more easier then walking down them, so he kept it that way. One day, he was told to strictly, but kindly, do it only in the house, not in public, by his father. While it was extremely hard not to, Edo kept his promise, and wouldn't roll down stairs, despite how fun those long long stairways looked.

Now there Edo stood. He was no longer that little boy he once was, he was a famous pro duelist, but that didn't change the fact that rolling down the stairs still looked fun and to him, it never got boring.

He decided it wouldn't hurt anything, how could it hurt anything? So, he readied himself and then took off rolling. He landed at the bottom perfectly, as always. He smiled a little bit, and then noticed something...

Edo looked up and his eye met with Ryo.

"..." The tall duelist said nothing.

"I- I slipped." Edo stuttered. He was surely not expecting Ryo to just walk around the corner.

"Like you would do something like that."

"..." Edo looked up at Ryo.

"..." Ryo down at Edo.

"...Fine, FINE!" Edo raised his voice, "I rolled down on purpose and I liked it, okay!?"

"..." Ryo still said nothing, just looking down on the younger boy.

"YOU TRY, THEN YOU'LL UNDERSTAND!" Edo yelled, standing up so he could point to the stairway.

But the world will never know if Hell Kaiser Ryo rolled down the stairway or not.
