LUNA-BIRD

Disclaimer: I do not own Luna, Neville, Hermione, Ginny, Harry, or Draco. They belong to JK Rowling, a great writer. This is my take on what would happen if Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom got together. I always wanted them to, and when they didn't, I just had to write this. Please don't sue me, I just wrote this for me and all the other Neville-Luna fans. Hope you enjoy! - Penelope

A tall boy knocked on the door of his best friend's bedroom. "Luna, you there? I've got those history notes you needed. Luna?" No one answered. He put his hand on the knob and it turned. He opened the door and peeked inside. Luna was passed out on her bed, shoes and all.

Neville smiled to himself. What did you stay up late doing this time, Luna-Bird? He walked over to her desk and set the papers down and turned around to find Luna's eyes fluttering open. She sat up in bed and blinked twice before saying,

"Oh. Hello-Neville."

"I'm sorry Luna. I didn't mean to wake you. I was just bringing you those notes." Neville gestured sheepishly at her desk. Luna smiled sleepily. "It's alright. Even when I'm sleeping that sixth sense of mine kicks in and says that someone has entered my domain." She laughed at Neville's raised eyebrows. "I'm just a light sleeper."

"So, how late were you up this time?" Luna thought for moment. "Around 4. Sometime like that." Neville crossed his arms over his chest. "Luna, you know it's really bad for you to do that." Luna shrugged. "I don't do it that very often, and anyways it was a once in a lifetime thing."

"A once in a lifetime thing?" He asked skeptically. Luna nodded amiably. "The rainallai were flying through London last night. They only do that every 150 years. They are cousins of narguls, but much bigger." Neville laughed. "Okay, okay, you win." Just then Luna's phone went off. "Just a sec, Nev." She picked it up and a smile lit up her face.

"Hello-Hermione. I'm doing well, how about you?" She paused as Hermione talked. "No, I don't have a roommate. No one wanted to room with me… that would be great! Bye." Luna turned back to Neville excitedly. "Hermione's coming to college and she wants to room with me. I can tell she's upset though." Neville looked confused.

"I thought she was getting married soon." Luna shrugged. "I guess it didn't work out. Ginny hasn't stopped texting me about Harry. She's in such a state, now that Harry's with that Malfoy boy. She keeps asking me what to do, and I just keep telling her I don't know. I've never been 'with' anyone. But anyways…"

"Luna, are you glad that you never got together with anyone at Hogwarts?" Luna looked surprised. "Neville Longbottom, if you asked any other girl than me they would get very offended by that question." Neville smiled, thinking of Lavender Brown.

"But, even if I did like someone like that, they wouldn't have me. I'm Loony Lovegood." Neville took her hands in his and said,

"Don't say that, Luna-Bird." Luna shrugged nonchalantly. "It's true." Neville shook his head firmly. "No it isn't." He paused a moment before saying,

"I love you." Luna raised her eyebrows. "Really? That's funny." Neville face fell. "Wh… why?" Luna laughed softly. "'Cause I love you, too." Neville's eyes lit up and he said, "You really mean it?" Luna smiled.

"Of course." And she stood on her tiptoes and gently kissed him, his rough lips against her soft ones. "I wonder if the narguls are watching." Neville smiled. "Oh, Luna-Bird," he murmured, as he ran his hand through her white-blond hair, and deepened the kiss they had both been waiting for, for years.
