Just a little poem thing about "zombies". Also, a big thank you to Laceration Gravityy for giving me a hand with this- I needed it! ;D

Also, I apologise for the random lines everywhere- it was the only way I could find to separate the different paragraphs, 'cause this thing doesn't understand the concept of missing a line...

"I'm scared".

Dusk,

That's when the Fear comes out to play.

It rips,

It tears,

We wait.

"Don't be".

His reassurance,

It never lasts,

As now the day melts into night,

Fiery red to dusty grey

And the Fear,

Its presence looms-

Slashes my heart.

An open wound

I have no time to heal.

We take shelter

In the shadow of what was once a home,

Now a wreckage.

Safety, no more.

And we watch

As the Fear,

It creeps

Out from beneath the cobwebs of daylight.

It seeks us.

It finds us.

Smash!

The Fear, it rips the door down.

We cower.

It can taste us already,

Staggered breath on lifeless tongues.

And that loft hatch,

Our only protection,

Won't last forever.

All we ever did was run,

Our skin

Blistered by the sun.

It's funny

To think we'll never run again

As now the Fear blunders beneath us,

Smashing, snarling, seething.

Shards of teeth,

Flakes of flesh.

Hungry.

The loft hatch bursts.

"It's over now".

Cuticles claw wood,

Encrusted with blood.

Bones snap.

A rotting stench

Captures my lungs.

Vomit climbs my throat.

The Fear climbs through the loft hatch.

"Not just yet…"

He squeezes my hand.

Our eyes catch.

He smiles.

I forget that I was ever scared at all.
