He wondered if she would come. Even after all the time they had spent together, he knew he could never be sure that she wouldn't leave him. That she wouldn't one day finally recognize him for the monster he was.

She would never knew the depth of his yearning for her…the love that could make him leap over more than high mountains and deep oceans…the love that was his salvation from the darkest part of him…

Ironic it was that both the light and darkness of his damned soul yearned for her equally. The only difference was that one wanted to live her and the other wanted to savor her blood.

She was his salvation and his eternal damnation…and the truth that always pierced him that had he had a heart…it would beat just for her…

He stood there alone, always alone, a god like figure etched against the dying light. She walked towards him slowly, more out of an effort to avoid falling rather than warning him. He knew she was there anyway, long before she slipped her arms around his lean waist. His back radiated a chill that strangely warmed her and when he turned around to face her, she knew she was where she belonged…in his arms.

His golden eyes burned with dark secrets and darker truths but she held no fear of them. She just raised her face to meet his cold lips, feeling her love swell inside her.

They stood there locked in an embrace in a time that belonged to none of them and both of them. They stood there wrapped in the embrace of twilight's dark halo.
