Lazy Day

"Shikamaru, I'm bored." Nami said, voice like music that was a little too loud for comfort, for what must have been the tenth time in ten very long, boring minutes. The boy simply opened one of his deep brown eyes lazily and looked at her for a moment; he contemplated her fiery red hair, her shirt that was a much less violent shade of maroon, yet somehow still too bold, and her thin yet well-muscled structure, before closing it again and resuming his daydream wondering how a girl that small and petite could keep up with the number one hyperactive knucklehead ninja. The reason, he guessed, was her attitude Nami was always so troublesome with her constant talk of adventure and long journeys to places too far away to be worth the trouble. Shikamaru wanted to complain about being left to babysit her, as he complained about everything, but the girl was impossible to argue with, being a few months older than him was a fact she loved to flaunt in an argument, so instead he settled on attempting reason. He opened his eyes and sat up with a sigh and a tired yawn,

"You know, Naruto and his squad should be finished with their mission in a few hours. Can't you just relax quietly until then?" At this, Nami couldn't help but laugh out loud. You see the girl was nowhere near the quiet and lazy person her friend was, one look in her lively and vibrant ruby-colored eyes could tell you that, if her flamboyant and somewhat obnoxious way of talking didn't give it away first. Shikamaru sighed again heavily, he had hoped that for once she would just be quiet, "Fine then, if you really won't just sit then what do you want to do?" he asked. The moment the question left him, he regretted it and he thought Jeeze, why does this girl have to be so bothersome?

"I want to… go on a walk." Nami said simply, surprising Shikamaru with how simple the request was. He nodded in agreement and stood up to walk with her around the Leaf village. It was quiet for a while before Nami spoke again, "Hey Shikamaru, I just want to say… Thanks."

"Thanks for what?" Shikamaru asked, a little confused as to why she would be thankful to him. She simply smiled at him for a moment before she hugged him and replied,

"For putting up with me."
