I know, I know, I'm supposed to be working on my "5 Times" story (and it is coming along, I promise). But I saw this prompt in the 'Word Challenge Throw Down' at Heart of Camelot, and decided it needed to be undertaken:

Use the words 'laughter', 'apprehension' and 'delicate' and the story must be from the point of view of an inanimate object.

A/N My usual thanks to LyricalSinger for both the prompt and the beta ;)

Salvation

There are times when I wish I had never been created and this is one such.

The witches have taken me and bent me to their own intent; I feel soiled. Evil.

I am filled almost to the brim with the blood of soldiers; the blood of a thousand or more human men. Each one convinced of his strength of purpose and his loyalty.

But their devotion is misplaced; their leaders sorely flawed.

Men's minds are delicate, fragile things, and these ones have been easily swayed from the light by a pretty promise of immortality.

Then I see Him. He fights his way across the room, sword raised.

I recognize him and I rejoice. This one is not like the others. Being the object of his focus feels pure, clean, good. It is like the laughter of a child, though he is anything but happy as he advances toward me.

Rather, I feel his apprehension, though he does not let it deter him. He rushes forward, intent on sweeping me off the pedestal where the witches have secured me, but to my dismay he is thwarted and thrown to the wall.

I wait anxiously and am not disappointed, for he bravely fights through his pain and defeats the witch.

He heads towards me once more. This time he is not stopped and at last I am purged of my vile contents, able once again to serve my true purpose.

Life.

A/N Hopefully you have already figured it out, but if not, this is from the point of view of the Cup of Life in a scene from 'The Coming of Arthur' (Season 3)
