Our Battle
He let Black Star off easy today again…
It was becoming more like a ritual to the katana wielder.
In all honesty, he wished he could've taken the boy and his weapon in captive but then he thought that was more of a selfish whim but there was a reason for it.
The plans that his masters were plotting, they were going to be dangerous, he would rather not fight and end up killing Black Star.
To him, Black Star was the only person that provided him with a reason to hone his skills and to hone Black Star's skills. Black Star was getting stronger, there was no denying that.
Or maybe it was his fondness of kids that was making him think this way but then again he knew that Black Star wasn't just some child like Angela that he can bribe with sweets.
Black Star would need a bit more coaxing than that…
Plus Black Star was a teenager and an arrogant one at that, so it gave Mifune some form of handicap.
Still, it gave him a challenge.
Black Star acted like a complete moron but in all reality he was a brilliant fighter. Him and his weapon Tsubaki, they have a very unusual relationship but other than that they work brilliantly together.
Mifune was jealous of that relationship but he wasn't jealous of Black Star far from it, it was Tsubaki he was more jealous off.
If someone knew and asked him why he 'liked' the 'Tools Master', Mifune would just say that there was something about the blue spiky haired boy that intrigued him, that seemed like a mystery. There was something about Black Star that looked innocent yet mysterious, he couldn't pinpoint what it was but there was something there.
It made Mifune puzzled.
Yet it made Mifune want him all the more, those eyes, the eyes that held much determination in them, he wanted those eyes, Mifune wanted those eyes so much that he thought there were times he would go insane. Then there was that heart of his, Mifune wanted to know the cause for such determination to be present in a boy like Black Star.
Now that Mifune thinks about it, he wanted all of Black Star and there were some thoughts that Mifune thinks aren't his own, they were sinful.
But then he shock his head, he wanted Black Star as an opponent, some to hone his skills and vice versa, he wanted to let the boy grow stronger so that one day he can beat Mifune.
Mifune wanted Black Star, he wanted that determination, he wanted that courage and he wanted Black Star's soul so that no one else can have it.
He didn't want to kill the boy
He didn't want to harm the boy
All that Mifune wanted was to catch the boy
So that he can hide and protect him from his masters
To shield him from their demonic eyes, evil plots to rid the world of the death scythes, weapon maesters and the students in training.
He didn't want Black Star to suffer the same fate as all the others, he didn't want to see the body of Black Star on the floor or his blood soaking into the grounds of the battlefield.
If he was asked to kill Black Star, he would rather kill himself
Because in the end
This was their own private battle

Youkai Of Hearts: Seriously, how come there are not a lot of fics about Mifune and Black Star?
I feel a little sad for these two, they don't get much love : (
