"What did you just say?"

"I can't raise this child with you."

They were both standing in the center of the room of an Inn in a small town far away in the middle of nowhere. This was were they would always meet up to keep things and their relationship a secret from everyone.

"I don't understand, when I told you I was pregnant you seemed overjoyed with happiness! Heck you practically already named her already! What's changed!?" She demanded an answer

"I-it's complicated." He replied

"Bullshit!" Toph spat "It's always been complicated between us, and that's never been a problem!"

"Well this time it's different!" He yelled. He could see why Toph was as angry as she was and he didn't blame her for it. They had recently decided to announce their relationship to the Gaang and even more importantly the entire World, but that was all before a soon to be newborn came into the picture.

"Z-" Toph caught herself before finishing. "Kanto, can you honestly tell me that you don't love me and want to end this relationship, OUR relationship?" Toph yelled, fighting back the tears that were building up in her eyes.

He took a few steps towards her and attempted to brush the bangs out of her face, but Toph swatted his hand away.

"I'm sorry Toph." he repeated for what was probably the hundredth time today.

"Stop it! Stop apologizing and say it!"

"Top-"

"Say it!"

"I...I don't love you anymore." He told her the sadness in his voice clearly audible.

.

They stood there for what seemed like eternity until Toph spoke, breaking the silence.

"Ok well if that's how you really feel, whatever ok, just leave." she shrugged her shoulders and waved him away as if it didn't bother her but he was no fool he'd been with her far too long to not know what she was doing.

"Toph."

"Leave!" She ordered

"Toph, I'm sorr-" he started but was cut off by a jab to his stomach

"I said stop apologizing...Just leave...please." Her voice was shaky and weak as she spoke, and he could have sworn he saw a tear escape her eyes. He regained his composure and did as she said.

She heard his footsteps as he walked towards the exit, the door creaked when he opened it and he looked back and once again it felt like an eternity for the both of them.

He stood there watching her ,and she stood there listening to his breathing.

"Goodbye Toph." He said heartbroken and he closed the door. If Toph could see she would have seen the tears running down his face and the pain on his face as he forced himself to say those words.

"Goodbye." She whispered once he left

5 hours later

A bell jingled as the door opened.

"Welcome!" Iroh greeted but received no response. Iroh turned to look at the man who had just entered. His eyes were red and he knew exactly the reason why.

"It's for the best. If people found out about you and Toph right now, with the rebellion currently going on in the Fire Nation the number of assassination attempts would rise and you know that's not worth risking your childs life."

"I know Uncle."

5 months later

"Do you have you decided on a name yet?" Katara asked

"I was thinking Lin." Toph answered happily

" Lin? Isn't that one of of the names Zuko suggested when you first told us about your pregnancy?"

"Yeah, I guess it is." Toph replied. She placed a hand on her very pregnant belly and a small smile graced her lips.

She didn't know why he ended their relationship so suddenly and it still hurt to remember it but she definitely knew he didn't mean it when he told her that he didn't love her. After all Zuko was a horrible liar.
