It was bed time, and Kirk and his daughter had this game that they did every night. The game in it self had no point, but it was cute, and Kirk loved to see his little Amanda giggle like crazy. So, settled on the couch, blanket smothering the two, video screen blaring some child's show in the background, Kirk and Amanda began their game.
"Guess how much I love you?" Amanda asked, bouncing on Jim's lap. He beamed at the four year old. "How much?"
"More than Mr. Scott loves the Enterprise!"
Jim smirked, "That's a lot baby girl. Wanna know how much I love you?"
"How much?"
"More than Uncle Chekov loves Russia."
Amanda sat up, "Oh yeah? Well I love you more than Uncle Sulu loves fencing!"
"Hmm," Jim thought for a second, "I love you more than Aunt Uhura loves words!"
"I love you more than the entire universe! And the million, billion stars out there!" His daughter grinned. "Ha! I win!"
"Not quite," Jim drew his voice low, "I love you more than daddy loves logic!"
Amanda gasped. "No fair!"
"Way fair." Jim nodded. "Now who won?"
"I believe neither of you have won, for there was no particular prize nor point to your game."
"Daddy!" Amanda cheered, hopping off Jim's lap. She raced to the door and jumped, Spock catching her at the last second. "I missed you!" Amanda wrapped her arms tight around Spock's neck and laid her head on his shoulder.
"Hey." Jim smiled brightly, making his way over to his husband. "How was your day?"
"Uneventful." Spock admitted. "And yours?"
"The same."
"Mommy and I were playing a game!" Amanda cheered. "He won though..."
"Oh, did he?" Spock raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah," She yawned and scratched at her slightly pointed ears, "He did."
"I believe that it is someone's bed time."
"No!"
"Yes honey," Jim gently took Amanda from Spock. "Say good night to your father."
"'Night Daddy." She kissed him on the nose.
"Good night," Spock brushed her blond hair out of her eyes. "Oh, and before you go..." He held out something that looked akin to a bear.
"Spock," Jim eyes it warily, "What is that?"
"Well, our daughter is one quarter Vulcan, so I believed that it was time to get her something that all Vulcan children got at their coming of age." Spock held the bear up. It blinked. Amanda squealed.
"Spock! You got her a Selhat?"
"Indeed."
"Hello new friend!" She murmured, hugging the bear tight. It purred in her arms. "I'm going to name you...uh...Stitch!"
"Stitch?" Her parents deadpanned.
"Yeah! Like from the movie!"
Spock raised his eyebrows while Jim shook his head. "Alright, enough chit-chat. We all have to go to bed."
"Can Stitch sleep with us?"
Jim looked at Spock, then sighed, "Yes. He can."
"Yay!" She cheered, and little Stitch yapped in approval. As they walked from the living room, to their shared quarters, the realization dawned on Jim. Life was perfect, and that was just the way he liked it.
"Good night."
