"You're back" He said breathlessly. Looking at her as if she werent actually there.

She looked back at him. Not really knowing how it felt seeing him again "Yeah, I am" She answered.

"For how long?" "I don't know Charlie." She sighed "I guess that depends."

"Depends on what?"

"Everything! When I left, everyone hated me. You because of the soul bond, and everyone else because of my last name."

He grabbed her hand. "I never hated you, not really. Just that you didn't tell me." his hand felt calloused and strong. She felt a small tingling sensation when he touched her.

"But I did tell you!" She pulled her hand away from his and stood up "And you got mad and told me you felt stuck with me, like you didn't have a choice but to be with me. So I gave you that choice." She backed away a few steps to put some distance between them. Charlie looked hurt that she moved away.

"What? What choice? You left me and moved to New York and I haven't seen you in two years. How is that giving me a choice?"

She sighed "You knew I was in new York this whole time. Yet you haven't tried contacting me once. You could have apparated, floo powdered over, even sent me an owl. However, you chose to not contact me at all. That was your choice. Instead of trying to get me back here, you chose to leave me be and move on with your life." She blinked back a few tears, she would not cry. Not now, not in front of him. "I would have come back if you'd asked me Charlie, but apparently you only wanted me when I was nearby. An easy choice. You made no effort at all to keep me with you."

"Things are different now, you're here. We can be together." he reached for her but she backed away.

"I didn't come back for you Charlie!" She nearly yelled.

"Then why? Why did you come back? Because I dont understand any of this"

"Really? She sighed" We are in the middle of a war and you want to have this conversation? Fine! I came back for Severus, he's the only one that has kept the contact with me, he informed me that the Battle was starting, he has kept me up to speed with what's going on in this war. And he may or may not be dead. I have no way to know that until this fighting is over. So excuse me if I want to focus on the only person who's actually seemed to care that I was even gone."

"But if you're here we cou..." he started

"No! We are over, Charlie! You made sure of that when you chose to not even try to contact me. When you didn't choose me!" She could feel her eyes tearing up. She hadn't wanted this conversation now, not in the middle of a war when her godfather might be lying dead somewhere.

She started towards the door but was stopped by Charlie grabbing her hand. She turned around and looked at him. "Please" he said. Leaning towards her. She saw what he was planning to do in the last second before his lips crashed onto hers. She didn't react fast enough to stop him, 'or maybe you didn't want to' a voice said in her head. His lips were soft and familiar, and he smelled of fire and ash. He put his arms around her and pulled her closer, she couldn't resist. She felt herself melting into the kiss, their lips and tongues moving in a synchronized dance that felt as natural as breathing, it felt magical to kiss him again. She tugged at his hair, pressing herself up against his strong chest. For the first time since coming back she felt at home. Then he broke the kiss and the intense feeling disappeared. Reality came flooding back to her. She released him and took a few steps back. "I..." She started. She looked at him, remembering everything that had happened between them. Remembering this conversation and the last one before she left. A single tear fell from her eye. "I... I can't, I'm sorry, Charlie." She turned around and ran out the door, but not before she saw the heartbroken look on his face.
