Never seen a bluer sky
Yeah I can feel it reaching out
And moving closer
There's something 'bout blue
*
Wolfwood lay on the ground in the middle of the deserted street, staring up at the sky. The pain in his chest was getting worse with every breath he took. He knew he needed to get up. He needed to find Vash and tell him where Knives was.
*
Asked myself what it's all for
You know the funny thing about it
I couldn't answer
No, I couldn't answer
*
He pulled himself off the ground and winced. He leaned against his cross and took a deep breath. Wolfwood coughed violently and watched as blood spattered the dusty ground below him. His blood. He pushed his legs forward slowly, one after the other, moving sluggishly toward the main square of town, where he knew Vash would be. He pulled the cross onto his shoulder and tried to give some semblance of being all right.
*
Things have turned a deeper shade of blue
And images that might be real
Maybe illusion
Keep flashing off and on
*
Vash was right where he had thought he would be. Wolfwood stopped in front of him and spoke. Though he couldn't really hear his own words. His vision was blurring, the pain in his chest increased and he suddenly felt as if he was underwater, gasping for air. Vash didn't seem to really notice though. Wolfwood walked away, around the corner, as Vash was lost in his thoughts once more, leaving a trail of blood behind him in the dirt.

Free...
I wanna be free, Gonna be free...
And move among the stars
You know they really aren't so far

There it was. Clean and white, perfect, as a house of God should be. Wolfwood pushed the door open and looked around. He smiled to himself, and moved forward, toward the altar. He stood for a second and stared at the cross on the wall. Who was he to be here? A priest who killed others. He didn't deserve to even look at a place like this, let alone bleed in it. He fell to his knees, wincing in pain again. He began to think about the things he'd done, the people he'd killed… the friends he had made.
*
Feels so free...
Gotta know free... Please...
Don't wake me from the dream
It's really everything it seemed
I'm so free...
*
"I don't want to die!" he cried out, the words echoing in the small chapel. He knew it was too late though, his vision blurred again, and he pulled a cigarette out of his coat, and lit it. He stared up at the cross on the wall again and thought about Vash… Meryl… and Milly. Innocent Milly… She'd never forgive him for dying, would she? He smiled to himself, and the cigarette fell from his mouth, and hit the ground. Wolfwood slumped forward against his own cross and closed his eyes, for the last time.
*
No black and white in the blue
Everything is clearer now
Life is just a dream, you know
I'm ascending...
