Author's Note: Ah, Hiyori, you ball of pent-up energy and aggression.
Disclaimer: I don't own Bleach.
Whatever it is about him that makes her so, so incredibly angry (the jury's still out on whether it's purely hate; Hiyori can't really tell for all the raw unadulterated rage), Hiyori doesn't know. It just takes the sheer mention of her captain, and her blood pressure is up with blood roaring in her ears and angry color flooding into her face, to the point that it's practically an involuntary reaction. Hiyori ceases to worry on the why of it and focuses on the reality, and the moment.
Lisa rolls her eyes in contempt at the almost primal way Hiyori reacts to the presence of Urahara and asks sardonically if she isn't "sublimating" anything, only to have to duck and run when Hiyori turns on her with clenched and ready fists. Shinji isn't so quick as Lisa and usually gets a fist to the mouth.
He just makes her so angry, that bland, gentle smile and kindly eyes that Hiyori's sure is a scam of some sort. The name Urahara may as well mean "infuriating", if one is to ask Hiyori.
She's had it in for him from day one. Despite Urahara's most valiant attempts to make nice, Hiyori still won't warm up to him, doesn't think she's even capable of it. If he thinks he can ever replace Kirio, he's dead wrong, on so many levels.
The way Urahara behaves really doesn't help.
He never even attempts to defend himself, not really. When Hiyori screams irately at him or berates or demeans him, he only smiles and sometimes adds comments of his own blandly, just to infuriate her, she's sure. And when Hiyori graduates to violence, the most Urahara ever does is fight defensively, never landing so much as a blow on her. He refuses to give her the satisfaction of knowing that's she's gotten to him, just a little bit.
At the same time that his non-aggressive behavior bewilders Hiyori, it just fuels her own aggression.
He drives her crazy.
And though she hasn't really thought far enough ahead to get to this point, Hiyori, if given the chance, will probably kill him some day.
