Note: You might want to read Sayoko Bizen's "His Day" first, because this fic picks right up where it left off.

Laughter was the last reaction Yuuri would have expected from his fiance. Sure, he expected him to be happy, but laughter? Really? "Wolfram, what-?

Wolfram raised a slim, pale hand and placed it upon Yuuri's chest, over the king's heart. "I'm sorry, Yuuri. I strange thought just crossed my mind, that's all."

The king couldn't help but chuckle. Wolfram was not the type to have strange ideas. That was more like Murata, or even his own brother, Shouri. "Oh?"

Wolfram smiled, took a deep breath, let it out, nodded, and then finally met Yuuri's gaze. Yuuri had to stifle a gasp. Wolfram's cheeks were flushed from laughing, and the blond's green eyes have never looked so big as they looked up at him almost shyly. Yuuri almost whimpered when Wolfram took back the hand that he'd placed on Yuuri's chest and touched his own throat with it. "I was imagining training my soldiers, picknicking with Greta, having meals with the family - without ever leaving the circle of your arms. Of course, such a thing is impossible, and unacceptable, considering..." Wolfram trailed off from there, so that Yuuri couldn't make out what the youngest former prince said. The boy monarch decided to ask.

"Uh, what?" The king ineloquently asked.

Wolfram sighed and looked away. "I said, it would be impossible and unacceptable since you will one day marry someone else. Otherwise, I could spend the rest of my life with your arms around me."

"Wolf - " That selfsame moment, the bells of the Great Temple of Shinou tolled twelve times, announcing the arrival of midnight.

The blond let Yuuri go and folded his hands together in his lap. "My birthday is officially over now. Thank you for the hug, Yuuri. I will never forget it."

Yuuri cast his fiance a determined gaze before replying, "We're not," the king said, and saw Wolfram's eyes regard him warily. "We're only just beginning. Ein neuer Anfang," Yuuri continued in Mazoku.
