FIRST PHOTO TAKEN TOGETHER:

LAUREN'S POV:

Since Joey and Alice had arrived in Albert Square, our relationship had been great. We'd pretty much spent every day together, just hanging out and enjoying the summer. But now winter was coming the days were bleaker and shorter and the weather was rubbish, so we couldn't hang out as much unless they both came here or I went to theirs. Today was a busy day though, both of them were at work, so I decided to occupy myself by having a clear out. The bottom half of my wardrobe had now been de-cluttered and organised, and now it was onto the top half. Pulling a box from the shelf, I sat down on my bed and opened it, smiling as I saw a photo of Joey and I that Alice had taken on top of the pile. The three of us had been at the beach with Abi and Jay, and they'd gone off on their own and I'd decided to release my inner child and build a sandcastle, Joey deciding to, in my words "interfere", and in his words "help" me make it. Little did I know until later that day when Alice had posted it on Facebook that she'd taken a picture. Picking it up, I smiled warmly. It had been a great day. The weather had been amazing and I'd had amazing company, just what summer days were all about…

"Lauren, darling?" Mum questioned as she knocked on the door "can I come in?"

"Course" I replied, looking up to my bedroom door as it creaked open

"How's it going?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at me

"Not too bad, it's getting there" I informed her

"What's that?" she inquired, motioning to the picture in my hands

Handing it to her, she smiled warmly… "This is lovely"

"Yeah" I admitted "it was such a lovely day"

"It looks like it" she replied "I just wish you'd had the chance to know them both when you were a kid"

"It doesn't matter. The fact is I know them now and that's what counts" I admitted

"I think I've got a frame for this, do you want it?" she questioned

I glanced at the picture and nodded my head, signalling yes… "Please. Thanks, Mum"

"You're welcome, darling" she replied "won't be long"
