(A/n: I was just thinking…and I LOVE torturing George…so I know this is a little pathetic. I'm not even really expecting reviews. NOT that I don't want them!!! Lol just read.)
George Cooper of Pirates Swoop woke up with the sun in his eyes. With a groan he closed them for, once again, the spot next to him in bed was empty. He had been married to Alanna for almost four months, and yet she was still absent for most of the time.
The ex-thief sighed and sat up, wishing that his Lioness was with him.
"Not my Lioness," he laughed sadly, and found himself staring at her pillow. "No, I suppose she will never be my Lioness. She's the Realm's Lioness. And who leads the Realm?" he asked the room, and tossed the pillow into the air.
"King Jonathan," George said decisively, catching the pillow. With a bitter grin he leaned back again, pillow in his hands.
"I mean, that's who she spends all her time with. Jon. Jon Jon Jon. Put yourself in my boots. She told me she would be home last night. 'Just a three-day thing, George,'" he mimicked. "She told me she would get home whilst I slept, and wake me. Of course, I should have waited up for her. What if she got home, saw me sleeping, and went back to Jon? I never did believe that she stopped lovin' him. Between you and me, I think Thayet and I are being used as cover-ups so Alanna and Jon can continue their affair. It's like I once said…How can I compare to Liam Ironarm and the King of Tortall? Wait--" his hands clenched-- "what if she only says she has to go to meetings and that she HATES them, only so she can go spend her nights with Jon? It all makes sense now. I think I'll go to Corus and catch them at it--"
"Hem hem." Someone cleared their throat in the doorway. George stopped in mid-sentence and dropped the pillow that he was clutching victoriously. Jon and Alanna were both staring at him, Jon's expression bemused, Alanna's shocked.
"Ah…How long have you been there?" George asked hoarsely.
"Ever since the part where you said Thayet and you were being used as cover-ups," Jon supplied, barely containing his laughter. He turned to Alanna, who was speechless. "You know, Alanna? We know people have been talking about us since we were teenagers, but never has anyone confided to a pillow. I mean, those pillows…They can't keep secrets very well. Very untrustwo--"
Alanna, face tight with incredulity, punched him in the chest and stalked out of the room. Jon, silenced, winced. George started laughing hysterically.
"I wouldn't laugh if I were you, Georgie boy," Jon said through gritted teeth. "After all, you didn't get to spend last night with her."
(Well…didn't turn out as well as it did in my head, but can you review anyway? I know the whole pillow thing is stupid and the whole story might be a little confusing. Oh well, it was a one-shot.)
