"Jackson...Jackson wake up. The bells about to ring." I open my eyes and see my bestfriend Kyle looking down at me. We were in Mr. Stevens ninth period language arts and it was just ending. I glanced at the clock. 3.2.1.*ring* I bolt up and run outside to my car with Kyle at my heels not even bothering to put my books away. "One day, Jackson, you're gonna fall on your face and I'm gonna laugh so hard." I don't even glance at Kyle who was now sprinting to keep up with me. "That's a very famous mans last words," I shoot back. "Who?" Kyle says clueless, "Kyle Sanombrini." I could hear him laughing as we arrived at my car.

I open the door and start the car. "You know," I say as I begin to drive, "the temperature has gone up 37 degrees since we got to school. It's 105 degrees right now and it's April. Isn't that weird," I state as Kyle looks at me and says, "Global Warming. Were all fucked." I laugh and pull into my driveway thanking god it was Friday and Kyle could sleep over. "Mom I'm home," I yell up the stairs, "Hi sweetie," I hear in response. "Kyle and I are gonna go check on Riley in the basement, okay?" I say. "Yes of course," I hear my mom say. I make my way down to the basement to check on my little brother who's four named Riley. We adopted him from the UK three years ago but he is like a true brother to me. I look into the basement with Kyle at my heels and see my 4'1 blond-haired little brother walking toward us. "Hi, how was school?" I say. "It was o-." He gets cut off by my Mom's scream from upstairs. "What the hell," I yell noticing how the temperature has gone up even more. Kyle and Riley seem to notice as well that something isn't quite right.

I run upstairs and see everything in flames and my mother lying dead on the floor. Her hair singed and her face a bloody mess. I cover Riley's eyes and look to Kyle who was screaming but I didn't notice. The only thing I could notice was the screams of terror from my neighbors. As I look out the window and see the world and shambles, and only one thing comes to mind.

No one listened but they warned us about this. About the sunflares.

two years later

I wake up screaming. Just another dream about the terrible sun flares that rocked our planet and turned our world upside down. Since then Kyle, Riley, two people we met named Maddie and Jasmine, and I have been living on the Appalachian Mountains. One of the only safe places since the ice caps melted, flooding most of the world. Not only that but now there is a virus called The Flare going around that escaped from a lab when the sunflares hit. Kyle, Riley, Jasmine, Maddie, and I are all immune. Meaning it is impossibe for us to get the virus. Thank the lawd.I think to myself as Riley just looks at me worriedly. "Did I say that outloud," I ask, "If you just screamed, Thank the lawd, then yes." I laugh and look at my seven year old little brother who asks like a 40 year old man. He grew up to fast I think to myself.

The day continues like a normal day farming, hunting, sewing, and just having a good time with my best friends. Until we hear something that terrifies us. A menancing human like growl that could have only came from one thing.

A crank.
