Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom. I do own my little Casper, though! Yay!

Author's Note: My mom and I recently bought, not one, but two 8-week-old Yorkshire terriers. Both girls. One's specifically mine though. I named her Casper. Hee!

Warnings: Sam is slightly OOC. I apologize for that.

Can We Keep Him?

No.

He wouldn't fall for it. Not again, at least. "Sam, we're not bringing that thing home."

Sam's 'puppy pout' faded slightly. She held the bundle in her arms like it was her child and actually, to Danny's disturbance, cooed at it.

"Sam . . . "

"Please, Danny? At least just one night? Look at the poor thing, he's filthy, cold, and probably hasn't eaten in days! It'll die out here in the cold!" Sam held the thing out at arms length, effectively shoving it in her husband's face.

The bundle was just pitiful. He had large, hollow eyes, and ragged fur, with a few bald patches here and there, and one of its ears looked like it had been chewed off at the ends. Obviously, it hadn't seen a bath in years– or maybe not at all.

"That's what you said about the cat, the rabbit, and the ferret!" Danny's arms flailed childishly as he talked.

Sam could be so stubborn when it came to nature and the environment. Danny had been lenient when she came home from work one day with a ferret thrown over her shoulder like a faux fur boa. He'd let it slide when she insisted to bring the gaunt and half-dead calico into their home for 'one night'. That 'one night' had turned into a week, and then a month, and now she wanted to bring home this thing! At this rate, he might as well add Cujo to the family. Or, God forbid, Wulf.

Danny shuddered.

"Danny . . . "

He wasn't going to fall for it. Nope. Nada. Don't even think about it, Fenton!

Danny sighed. "Fine, just one night!"

Sam smirked. "I love you." She wrapped her arms around him and he watched as the mutt-dog tried to lick his face.

"No, you don't. You just want the dog."

"Oh, don't be such a baby." Sam swatted him with her free hand as they headed toward home.

Danny sighed, defeated. Sometimes, it really sucked to be the nice guy.

Danny watched silently as Sam tended to the dog and held it closely to her. Then his gaze wandered to her abdomen, and he smiled softly.

Well, at least it'll be good practice before the baby arrives. Danny thought.

Although, he had a strong feeling the mutt was here to stay as well . . .

The dog reached over Sam's arm to lick the side of Danny's face, as if to say 'Thanks'.

...and somehow, Danny was okay with that.

Fin

Well, there you have it. Not anywhere near great. This is only my second drabble for Danny Phantom. Hope it didn't completely bore you.

Reviews are greatly appreciated, and I accept constructive criticism. I'd like to know how I can improve, especially since Danny Phantom fanfic is not my forte.

Thanks so much!
