10. Breathe Again
If Chika was to be absolutely honest with himself, it was rather selfish of Shiba to just go and fall into a siege of feathers, and at any rate not nearly original enough
for the boy who had once been something like a best friend (or rival, or brother, or just classified under "declined to state" not that it really mattered anymore). If
the zombie was to allow his emotions to run freely and not be detoured by the mental admonishments from some sort of ethical inconvenience called loyalty that
persisted even after the dock to which it was supposedly anchored had been ravaged by ravens, he might admit to even being somewhat angered and disappointed
that the serpent tongued superman had just thrown in the towel when life didn't cater for his restless needs, and honestly there must be some sort of fault that lay
within the blonde himself if he didn't at least try to go the clichéd but amusing routes of politics or curing rabies or world domination that even if it lost interest
somewhere in the middle would have at least occupied his time, after all, he couldn't rely on people like Chika to do all the entertaining for him. And if the white
haired had been slightly inebriated enough to really look down deep and admit to having some sort of emotional weakness then he might even admit to being just
A little…
Bit…
Hurt…
That Shiba would find him again and just leave. It was a metaphorical or proverbial or something of that sort slap to the face that he would go through all that
trouble to hurt and betray (and most importantly come back to) the one he claimed to find the most exciting (which in both their minds equated simply to something
like best friends) tangle them all in a mystery crudely designed mostly for his own entertainment, make brief allusions to promises made back when both had all their
vital signs only to scoff at all and try to…something close enough to killing him to make it undesirable yet something that promised more than a simple lick of his chest
to make the legal zombie curious no matter what objections Shito might have to what the right hand was subjected to. Not of course, that it could ever really be
known and experienced (all for the purpose of documentation and settling of curiousity of course never for something so mundane to Shiba as actual simple pleasure
or some foolish notion of emotional attachment) and later on experimented with as the illegal zombie went through the (for lack of a more accurate term) life
endangering cases Chika and his partner went through on an almost daily basis and with the help of the super genius could have gotten more and maybe some
sense of fulfillment or excitement and at the very least a simple corporate take over in which Chika could have
gotten some sort of discounted debt and Shiba could make the afterlife on earth as interesting as he wanted.
But at any rate it was all much too late for could bes and might have beens and even anger because the idea of being the zombie of a zombie was ridiculous and
though some could get the chance to rise from the grave in a manner not nearly as dramatic as movies yet so much more interesting, the debt acquired after that
was simply too much to ever really be paid off and all that was left was the black down of a raven and if the gods put enough effort into the whole creation thing
there might be something next.
