"Thank you for dinner, Nico. I had a really good time," said Dani softly.

Nico smiled, and took her hand, lifting it to his lips. "So did I. I hope we can do this again soon." He gently kissed the backs of her fingers.

She blushed a little and looked up at his through her lashes. "I'd like that."

A moment or two passed, the two of them standing in silence. Finally, Nico closed the gap between them and slipped his arms around her. Dani held her breath, just waiting, looking up into his warm hazel eyes. He leaned in a little closer, his lips a millimeter from her own. It was happening, the moment she'd hoped for, prayed for...

And her phone went off. Oh, God, really? Seriously?

Nico drew back slowly. "I guess you need to get that," he said softly.

"Yeah." She reached for her phone.

She rolled her eyes and clicked the button.

Go 4 it, Mom. :P

She smiled and answered back.

She slipped the phone back in her purse and looked up a Nico. He was smiling at her, a strange, soft light in his eyes.

"Sorry about that." Flipping back her hair, she sighed and patted his upper arms gently. "Now, where were we?"

Those strong, warm arms circled her waist again and pulled her close. "Right about... here, my dear Doctor." He leaned in and ever so softly, pressed his lips to hers.

Murmuring her approval, Dani slid her arms around Nico's neck, running her fingers through his hair as she opened her mouth to him. He slowly ran his hands up and down her back, massaging and smoothing, as his tongue caressed hers. She was in heaven. It was even better than she'd hoped for.

After what felt like an eternity, Nico broke the kiss and pulled away slowly. Pressing his forehead to hers, he smiled and hugged her to him. Dani melted into his embrace, her ear at his chest, listening to the thud of his heartbeat. She'd never been this close to him, and she relished the warmth and comfort he provided her. "Thank you," she whispered against him.

He planted a kiss on the top of her head and stepped back. "No, thank you, Dani." A beautiful smile crept across his handsome face. "See you tomorrow."

Giddy as a schoolgirl, she nodded and bit her bottom lip as she leaned back against the door, watching him as he walked slowly to the car. As he got it, he gave her another smile and a little wink.

And Dani knew, right then, that this was the first kiss of many to come.
