Flower

Nessa is sitting on the edge of the pond, plucking petals off a daisy. With each one, she thinks "He loves me," or "he loves me not."

She knows none of it is real. A stupid flower can't predict the future of her and Boq's relationship.

So why does she keep doing it?

Maybe it's because it gives her something to do while she sits alone outside.

Maybe she has too much fun pretending that each petal she plucks off is a girl Boq could be dating, but knowing he chose her instead.

Maybe there's still some childish part in her that makes her believe in it.

Or maybe, even though she knows it's not real, it's because she relishes the thrill she gets when she plucks off that last petal and thinks "He loves me."
