So this was awkward.
Sam stared wide-eyed at Cam, who stared back at Sam the exact same way, both trying to work out if that had just come out of Cam's mouth.
"Cam…?"
Cam blushed a deep red, "Oh God, Sam, I'm so sorry. I- I didn't think that – I- didn't mean to say that out-loud. Uh – yeh – um – I-" He faltered.
Sam closed her eyes and breathed in and out slowly, trying to get control of the situation. When she opened them again she saw the same look of shock and embarrassment mixed with concern on Cam's face, and sheer panic in his bright blue eyes. She'd never seen panic like that, not even in the hairiest times on missions.
She smiled inwardly when she compared the look to that of a shy schoolboy who just asked out a girl for the first time.
What made her smile on the outside was the fact that that was exactly what he had just done.
"Sam?" Cam was confused by the smile growing on Sam's face.
"Cam, you are adorable," Cam scowled at her.
"Am not!"
Sam laughed, "Oh, you may try to be a tough flyboy, but underneath you're just the same as the others."
"I'm not-"
"Ok, ok," Sam interrupted, "the question is, do I ignore what you just said and pretend it never happened, or believe it did in fact happen and take it seriously?"
"Um," Cam nervously scratched the back of his head, "I think that's up to you…"
"Well then," Sam smiled as she closed the gap between them and placed a small, wet kiss on Cam's cheek, "Pick me up at eight, ok?" She turned and walked away down the corridor, knowing full well he was watching her.
She stopped a little further down the hall and, without turning, added, "Flyboy."
Cam could hear the smile in her voice and didn't like the sarcasm in that last word, but was too busy watching her ass wiggle away, and trying to refrain from screaming "HELL YEAH!"
