Lonely roses, the bird that needed her rose

"Mother, when will I be an apprentice?" A beautiful tabby kitten asked.

"Not in 4 moons, I'm sorry Birdkit." The darker tabby mother answered.

"But mother, that is too long. The prey will have died of old age, flowers will wilt, its too long to wait." Birdkit complained.

"You are smart, but it won't be that long. No worries little one, the prey will always be there, the flowers will regrow, an you will be an apprentice in no time." Her mothers words were filled with understanding and care.

"Okay then. May I go and watch the battle practice?" Birdkit asked.

Her mother hesitated, "Fine, but be very very careful. Watch out for anything bigger than you, do you know where the battle training is?" Her mothers words were cautious.

"Mother, I know where it is. And I swear that I won't go anywhere else. Don't worry mother." Birdkit dashed off. Her mother still felt heavy about letting her go, Something is wrong she thought.
