Bullet

Her heart pounded as she raced through the airport, feeling like a bullet train as she sped past the different gates. In just a few minutes, she would see the person she had sent off at the same airport nearly seven years ago. As she ran, pumping her arms at her sides, possible scenarios of their reunion ran through her head: running into his arms, jumping onto his shoulders to surprise him from behind, sneaking up behind him and covering his eyes so that she could say, "Guess who?" as she had dreamed of doing for the past few years. Gone was the shy twelve year old who could barely admit her own feelings to herself; she had been replaced by a confident, slightly more mature teenager, glowing with an aura of happiness as her fingers trembled with excitement.

As the correct gate came into sight, she jumped up and down with nervous energy, pausing for a few moments to survey her surroundings as she searched for a head of blue hair. What she had not anticipated was the plane landing earlier than the listed arrival time. Thus, she also did not anticipate that the boy she was searching for would sidle up next to her while she was looking around and whisper, "Boo," into her ear.

"Ahhh! What's your problem?" Amu yelled, turning to face the creep who had surprised her. As she came face to face with the culprit, her eyes slowly processed the familiar blue eyes and hair, as well as the violin case the man carried. Amu stared for a moment, not trusting her voice as all her confidence melted. Instead she was back to the shy girl she could be at times, and in that instant traces of her younger self were reflected in her actions. "Ikuto?" Amu dared to breathe out the name of the boy who had captured her heart so many years ago.

AN: I've been wanting to try this out for some time now, especially since I haven't written anything in a while (I should update my other abandoned stories, sigh...). But anyways, this was a lot of fun! Writing based off of a one word prompt/theme can really take you places. I'll be updating this soon, I think. If I decide to continue it haha. Otherwise I'll move on to writing other prompts. I'd love to hear your thoughts/constructive criticism on this.
