A/N: This' heavily based on the lyrics of a song I got suggested on DA, namely…'Bridge' by Dawid Podsiadło
One fine evening Undertaker was alone in his shop, as usual he was humming about. He opened one of the coffins and before him lay a young woman dressed in a dark brown dress. Somehow the woman's features reminded Undertaker of his long lost love, Claudia. He sighed and reached out silently. All these years of being alive, yet still dead. All those faked smiles, even that demon butler didn't know it wasn't genuine. Nevertheless, he'd broken her heart and couldn't fix it. Not then and certainly not now. She was gone. He still felt the same love as back then though. The last time he saw her was a sight he'd never forget. Those tear stricken eyes that beheld too much pain. Was he really the cause of that pain? He'd rather seen the other side of her, the one with the bright smile. The smile that met him every morning. He'd felt trapped in the house they lived in. Undertaker had only wanted some freedom, the freedom he thought he had lost. Not knowing he was dead wrong. He hadn't lost freedom at all, Claudia was his freedom. Claudia was the one and only person he'd wanted to be with. He only wanted to go out alone for once, but it wasn't for himself.
Soon enough, Undertaker had realized his mistake. He knew the house he'd felt so trapped in was his home, his life.
That fatal day came all too soon. He'd said the wrong words ending their conversation with a door in his face. He'll never forget her salty tears that now plagued his dreams. Claudia was later that day found dead in an ally. She'd been murdered brutally.
All Undertaker had learned in his time as human didn't matter, he became a reaper and now held precious memories of Claudia within one of his most treasured lockets. Although Claudia died, Undertaker tried to change for her. Alright, perhaps becoming an old, insane mortician wasn't one of the best changes but he was clinging to the thought that Claudia was the only one keeping him sane as a human. Who had he as the legendary shinigami he was? No one. Even though some of the younger reapers saw him as history itself, Undertaker didn't care as much.
If only he could see her smile again. That smile that tugged perfectly at the corners of her lips. He remembered Claudia's cold words before the door closed. "You should be alone, hide in a dark, cold place where I can't see you! There's no second chance for you, not anymore." Those words haunted him every single day.
What had he done? Whatever did he do to deserve these words? He hadn't cheated her, oh no! He could never do that! Actually, he didn't do anything wrong. She thought he had cheated her. She'd apparently seen him with another woman on the market when he'd been looking for a present for her birthday. Before he had a chance to explain, and one day before her birthday, she was murdered. And he was left alone with a broken heart and an empty locket that was meant for her.
The only words he could think of now were, "I miss you…" He felt the tears burn in his eyes at these familiar words. "I miss you every day."
