The Pure Soul
"DAMN HIM!"
The stupid mutt had done it again! She had caught him cheating on her with her good for nothing cousin Kikyo.
She should have known though, he always came home late. His excuse was always the same. "I was hanging with my friends, get off my back woman."
The only time he spent long periods of time with his friends was if it was at social events he was forced to endure, and incidentally, behave for his father. There was no way he would spend time with Miroku and Kouga willing for more than an hour.
**Flash*Back**
I can't wait to see Inuyasha's face when he comes home to his favorite meal!thought Kagome as she was driving to their apartment complex with the groceries from the local food place.
Kagome was just pulling into her parking space when her favorite song came on over the radio. Unable to help herself she turned the stereo to the max and danced wildly in her seat. Halfway through the second chorus the clock on the dash board caught her eye making her curse loudly. Switching the car off Kagome hopped from her door and grabbed all the bags from the rear. Bundled down with ten bags, because damned if she was going to make two trips, Kagome rushed up the stone steps leading to her apartment and walked down the hallway to her apartment that she shared with Inuyasha. Juggling the ten bags and trying to manipulate her keys from her purse proved too difficult so Kagome relented and set down half her load. Finally locating her keys from the depths of her purse Kagome proceeded to unlock the door.
"Okay better get started on this thing before Inuyasha gets home," she mumbled to herself as she retrieved the bags from the hallway floor and stepped into the residence. When she got all the way into the entryway though she noticed smooth jazz was playing. C
"Inuyasha?" Kagome questioned to the empty living room. She went to the kitchen put the bags down and went looking through the apartment trying to remember earlier that day when they had left for the day if they had had the music playing.
Kagome went to the living room and noticed that his coat and keys were in a different place than normal. That's funny he never goes as far as the entry way with them. She furrowed her brow as she tried to think of a time when he deviated from his routine of tossing his keys down, stripping out of his jacket and taking off his shoes off as she went to the next room. Kagome proceeded to go through all the rooms only to find that they were all vacant, until she got to the master bedroom.
The door to the room that they shared was slightly ajar showing part of the bed. Tears sprang to her eyes as she saw Inuyasha's bare torso leaning over her once close cousin, Kikyo's equally naked body. Kagome guessed that from the motion of their bodies were anything to go by they were not participating in hot yoga.
"Inuyasha," she whispered sadly. His cute little half demon ears twitched as they registered what she had said, pulling his face from Kikyo's glistening breasts Inuyasha turned to look in her direction not even pausing in his even and hard motion.
"Kagome?" Inuyasha asked in disbelief as he finally grasped who he was looking at.
Kagome turned and ran form the apartment throwing the ring from her left hand on the ground as she went, only pausing to grab her purse and keys from the entry. Stumbling down the flight of stairs leading to her car as the tears clouded her vision before finally reaching the side walk. Turning in the direction of her car Kagome almost ran her attractive male neighbor into the ground. She and Hayato and become instant friends when she made the decision to move here, At least one good thing came from that decision Kagome thought sadly.
"Kagome? Are you alright?" Hayato questioned worriedly holding her in front of him. Glancing over her shoulder Kagome saw the door to the apartment open before turning back to him panicked.
"Keep him busy. I never want to see his cheating face ever again, please." she begged hurriedly before shrugging his grip off and ducking behind him and racing to her car.
Jumping and letting out a little scream when she turned on her car and her stereo turned on to full blast. Turning down the radio she slammed her gear shift into reverse and pulled away from the building, slamming it into drive she turned away from it and slammed on the gas pedal. Glancing in her rearview mirror Kagome was relieved to see Inuyasha reach the sidewalk and her neighbor cutting him off as she reached the exit.
For more than a half an hour Kagome drove around with no destination before she finally pulled over on the side of the road. The tears had become too much and she knew she couldn't drive anymore without endangering other people's lives.
Pulling out her cell phone Kagome pressed her speed dial and held to her ear until she heard her best friend's familiar voice, "S-s-s-an-g-g-go?" Kagome manage to choke out.
"Kagome? What's wrong?" Sango inquired, worry lacing her voice. For several minutes she didn't get a straight answer. Only hearing chokes and sobs of "In-In-Inu-yasha" and "o-o-v-v-err."
"Kagome! Take a few deep breaths," obeying Kagome took a few several raspy hollow breaths allowing Sango to ask, "Where are you?"
"In my car in some parking lot," Kagome responded quietly looking around the deserted lot.
"Okay, meet me at the coffee shop and you can tell me everything that happened." After Kagome agreed they said goodbye and hung up.
When Kagome got to the coffee shop she ordered her drink and took a booth seat by the window. It had started to rain and people were running to find cover.
**End*OF*Flashback**
Sango arrived five minutes later. Soaked to the core, she looked around and found Kagome. Instant worry shot through her, Kagome looked horrible her eyes were blood shot and her hair was in a wet tangled mess, and staring unseeingly out the window.
After ordering her drink Sango went to go sit down across from Kagome. Lost in thought Kagome didn't see Sango until she asked quietly "Kagome? What happened?"
Unwillingly a strangled sob escaped her mouth as she focused her gaze on Sango "I caught Inuyasha…." She paused to wipe the tears from her eyes and cleared her throat "I caught Inuyasha cheating on me with Kikyo," pausing again before adding ungenerously, "Again."
Sango didn't know what to say, this was the third time Kagome had caught him cheating. She didn't know how Inuyasha had wiggled his way back into Kagome's good graces again the previous times, usually Kagome was good at seeing bullshit for what it was.
"I'm not taking him back this time," Kagome said forcefully reading the look on Sango's face.
"Good. You deserve better than him," Sango told her with an edge in her voice, which was so sharp that if Kagome wasn't so used to her friend's fierce personality she would have flinched away from it.
"Yea I know that. Now," Kagome admitted haltingly "Can I stay with you for a while?" she asked quietly.
"Yes of course," Sango assured her, her relief evident since Sango wouldn't have to force Kagome to her home.
"Also, can you come with me to hisplace so I can get some clothes?" she asked so quietly that Sango had to lean in to hear what she was saying.
"Oh yea," Sango said sitting back again, "There was no way I was letting you go alone."
"Thanks it means a lot to me"
"Let's wait a while…" she started but stopped was cut off by a gasp from Kagome, "What wrong?"
Kagome turned her face down to stare at the table, "He is here," she whispered sullenly. Confused Sango turned around to the place that Kagome had been looking. Narrowing her eyes she had to refrain from cursing loudly in disgust.
