One morning, Nell woke up to find her boyfriend sleeping beside her. She decided to give him a light kiss. Eric slowly fluttered his eyes open.
"Good morning", said Nell.
"Good morning." He turned to face her and they proceeded to have a mini make-out session.
"What's going on in that sexy mind of yours", asked Eric, noticing Nell staring at him.
"I was just thinking about how far we've come. I remember when we first met, you hated me."
"I did not hate you. Okay, maybe I thought you were too overconfident for your own good. I was just used to handling things in ops on my own, and didn't see why it was felt that I needed help. But, over time you did grow on me."
"Well, you haven't quite grown on me just yet." Nell laughed at the annoyed expression on Eric's face.
"You know, I could just leave right now." That made Nell laugh harder. She went for another quick kiss.
"Well in that case, I forgive you." Eric held Nell and drew light circles on her arm.
"You are right though about how far we've come. Over time, we became work buddies. Often, we considered crossing the line, but held back. Then, that undercover assignment made us realize that is was about time we stepped it up."
"I found that you make a great snuggle partner. I wouldn't have these moments any other way", said Nell.
"Just think, once we get our housing situation straightened out, we can have moments like this every morning. That is, of course, unless duty calls", said Eric.
"Let the team handle cases without us", said Nell.
"They would be really lost without though without two really cool people like us assisting."
They both laughed. Looking into each other's eyes, they both knew that no matter what life threw at them, they would always have each other's back. Eight years of working together made them see how well they fit together.
After another quick kiss, Nell got out of bed. "I'm going to take a shower. Would you care to join me?"
"I was thinking about catching some extra z's since we don't have to get ready for a while. If there was only some way I could be persuaded otherwise," said Eric raising his eyebrows.
"Oh, it's a challenge you want," thought Nell. She quickly hopped onto the bed and gave him a kiss more passionate than the previous one.
"My lady, consider me persuaded." Eric immediately jumped out of bed.
"Would you be up to taking a nap with me later, snuggle partner," asked Eric.
Nell giggled. "Of course, Eric." They both smiled as Nell took Eric's hand and led him to the bathroom.
