I wake up to the early morning sun shining through my sky blue flowing curtains. I get out of my comfy bed and stretch reflecting on my life, strangely enough. I remember how Jeb had taken care of us a year ago… before he disappeared… and I took care of our flock... Get your head out of the past Max! I think to myself, shaking my head. I throw on some clothes. Wow Nudge did the laundry FOR ONCE IN HER LIFE. I sigh.
I head into the kitchen still tired. I sigh thinking, what are we gonna eat? I look through the refrigerator and decide on cereal. Yum...
"Morning max." someone says yawning.
I look over and say, "Good morning Gazzy!"
"What's for breakfast?" Gazzy asks.
"Cereal." I say bluntly.
"Yum…" Someone says and I whirl around to see Iggy.
"Oh morning Iggy!" I say!
"Can't I make us some nice eggs or something?" he asks.
"Fine, Fine, Fine! You can make eggs! We have enough egg cartons with some to spare I guess…" I say trailing off.
"YAY!" Iggy and Gazzy say happily.
"I'm gonna wake the others up." I say.
"Ya… You do that…" Iggy says distractedly. I roll my eyes and head over to wake up Fang. "Hey Fang! Rise and shine!" I say.
"Sup." Fang mumbles. I roll my eyes.
"You wake up Nico, Percy, Ender, Ari, and Sol. I'll wake up the girls." I say. He gives a nod and stands up to wake the others. There are a LOT of us. Sometimes I wonder how Jeb did it! Sometimes I wonder how I do it. Oh ya! Because i'm awesome! Ok all jokes aside there are 8 boys, Fang, Iggy, Ender, Percy, Ari, Gazzy, Nico, and Sol. There are 7 girls, me(Max), Silver, Nudge, Thalina, Annabeth, Angel, and Luna. I go to wakeup Silver first. "Hey Silver, Wake up!" I say shaking her shoulder slightly.
"Uhhh… Why? I'm tired… I need sleep!" She says. I sigh, and get an idea. Carefully so I don't pinch myself, I slip my hands under the mattress and then yank up rolling her off of the bed.
"HEY! REALLY? I'M UP! Geez…" She hisses angrily glaring with her 2 different color eyes. I laugh and do this procedure several more times. By the way, yes, I did say 2 different color eyes. Her right eye is blue and her left eye is yellow. Her brother Sol and her sister Luna both have them as well as cat ears. Ender also has them (not the ears) but he's not related to them. Her brother has red, yellow, and orange ears and a red eye and a orange eye. Her sister has blue and white ears and blue and yellow eyes. Ender has dark purple and light purple. Anyways Silver walked up to me looking troubled.
"Hey Max? Can I talk to you about something." She says.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"Well…. I think jeb is a traitor." She says.
"WHAT?!" I ask astonished.
"Well think about it! He disappears without a word and his death is not mentioned on the news! It's at least safe to assume that we are not safe here and the erasers will find us here soon enough!" She says. I think about it.
"You may be onto something here… we should leave soon then." I say as we head down the hallway.
"Tomorrow." says Silver. I whip my head around.
"Why not today?" I ask.
"Because." She says.
"Because wha-"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAX!" I jump and whip my head around again to see the entire flock looking very happy.
"Happy B-day Max!" Silver says with a wide smile.
