Artemis ventured closer as the bright yellow speedster was turned around. A bow locked tightly in her hand. Plunge the arrow through the traitor's heart. Her 'father's' menacing voice said in her head.
Her breaths became uneven and tears welled in her eyes. She had to kill him. But could she? she loved him. The arrow raised in the air and she plunged it down. Right through Wally'sheart.
He had spinned around right as the arrow struck him. The arrow was slid out of her hand the end slicing her pale palm, the crimson blood trickling down her hand. Wally was sprawled out on the floor his usually annoyingly happy jade eyes filled with hurt. To Artemis they plead, Why Artie, why?
His springy yellow rubber costume stained with blood. His blood. Her arrow was sticking out, the sharpened metal tip soaked in his blood shed.
The tears streamed down, faster and faster. No sobs she didn't have the humanity for it. She collapsed onto her knees and removed her mask. It was sticking to her tear riddled face. She touched his freckled face, there was no smile.
She let out her first sob and more. Her tears were hitting his face, her fingers tracing it. "I loved you, Wally..." She said ruffling a delicate hand over his scarlet hair.
"I'm so, so sorry." She put her mask back on and grabbed her bow and arrows. Closing her eyes as she plucked the one that pierced his heart out and she ran.
Wally's eyes seemed to glint one last time in the fluorescent lighting of the lab. Wally West was gone.
The team finally made it in and they couldn't bare to the gruesome scene that stood before them. M'gann cringed away burying herself into Superboy's warm, broad chest. Aqualad's mouth was slightly open and short breaths escaped. Robin staggered forward.
His best friend. He dropped to his feeble knees looking at Wally and reaching out with a shaky hand to close his eyes. He looked back at the rest of them. His crestfallen face was inevitable even behind his mask. Slowly after waiting in the silence tears trickled down their faces. M'gann was the first to whimper out a sob. Superboy just seemed to breathe in and out loudly not really processing that the annoying, happyhappy Wally was laying soaked in blood in front of them.
So many things flooded through their minds;
How in the world did Kid Flash die? It was just a stake-out. He couldn't
be dead. No, not Wally. Not Wally. He was too strong.
But, wait- where the fuck is Artemis?
She woke up her head jolting upwards as she clutched the white linen of her thin summer blanket. The tears were still welling in her eyes slightly blurring her vision. She wiped the salty tears away. It was just a dream. She said as lose tresses of her blond hair fell over her sweaty face. She had been having the same dream over and over again since the Bialya incident.
She felt her face it was sticky with both sweat and tears. She pushed the hair away and breathed in and out. The blackened sky blew in a cool wind as her lacy curtains drifted graciously.
She bit her puffed lip and looked around her eyes drooping. As her fingernails dug into her palm she engraved something in her mind. Never, ever. Have that dream, again.
a/n: Gosh. I keep milking Artemis' past. I gotta stop that. So, R&R.
