"John, he's not breathing!"

Sherlock's voice thundered out and John had to hold the mobile briefly away from his ear as he racked his brain trying to think of who could possibly be not breathing in their flat.

He had only been at the supermarket for twenty minutes at the most, trying to restock their tea and jam supply, when his mobile phone went off loudly. Shifting the hand-basket to get a better grip, he replied, speaking calmly.

"Sherlock, WHO is not breathing?"

"Lestrade," came the voice again, grim and a bit afraid. "The bees escaped and one stung him on the- well there's quite a lot of swelling here so it's become difficult to ascertain just WHERE-"

"Sherlock," John interrupted, speaking quickly but steadily, "go to my med bag under the kitchen sink and get out .3mg of epinephrine and inject him in the mid anterolaterial thigh. Jab it deeply, but straight down, you understand me? The quicker, the better. And check his blood pressure after you've done it."

There was a clatter, presumably because Sherlock had dropped the phone to attend to Lestrade. John stood, mid-aisle, listening intently to his mobile with bated breath for what felt like an eternity until-

"John," came Sherlock's voice, sounding for all the world like he had just ran a marathon. "His pressure is a steady 120/70 and he's aspirating normally again."

John could almost hear Sherlock's pleased grin though the phone and told him so. Sherlock coughed subtly and under his breath mentioned that he didn't mean to lose his cool, but the reaction was so rapid and not at all the study of bees when exposed to certain chemical stimulants he had imagined. John stopped him there, incredulous.

"You mean to say," he said loudly, lowering his voice to an almost-whisper when shoppers nearby started to stare, "that you angered and then let the bees out on purpose," he hissed, "just so you could study a potentially fatal allergic reaction?"

There was a brief silence on the line and then Sherlock saying quickly, "I'll see you at home, John," before ending the call.
