A/N: I normally don't write next gen because I don't really know any of the characters, but I got this pair for the Speedy Drabble in the Hogwarts forum. This song came to mind when I was writing this. I hope it's not too bad! I don't really have an exact age for them, so feel free to make that up yourself here. Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter. JK Rowling does. I don't own the song the title and summary came from. Thanks for reading!

Roxanne and Lorcan had been best friends since they were kids. They were both home from Hogwarts for the summer and one day they decided to explore the woods nearby their homes. They suddenly found an abandoned tree house and Roxanne's eyes lit up.

"I bet this was the tree house my father and Uncle played in! Come on, let's go find out!"

Lorcan hesitated as she started climbing the ladder up to the tree house. "I don't know. It doesn't look safe," he said, studying it carefully. It really looked like it would fall apart if an ounce of weight was put on it.

"Oh, come on Lorcan. Trees are strong! They take years to collapse if somebody doesn't cut it down. Besides, I'd rather dance in the rain than wait out the storm."

Lorcan gave his friend a strange look. "It isn't raining," he said, looking up at the sky. There were some clouds, but they weren't rain clouds.

Roxanne giggled. "It's a metaphor. Come on, I'm inside it now! Or are you too chicken?"

Lorcan narrowed his eyes at her. "I'm not a chicken!" He stuck his tongue out at her.

"Then prove it!" Her eyes danced merrily as she looked down at him.

"Fine. But it's your fault if I fall and break a bone," he warned her as he climbed up. Truthfully he knew that the tree was safe by now. He just wasn't fond of heights, but he didn't want Roxanne to find out about his fear. He was afraid that she would laugh at him. He swun his legs up and sat on the floor and peered out the doorway. The sun was setting now, displaying magnificent shades of pink and purple.

"See, that wasn't so bad was it?" Lorcan turned around and studied his best friend. His breath caught when he saw how radiant she looked in the sunlight. She looked like a goddess. He swallowed nervously. Lorcan had developed a crush on her, but he had tried his best to keep it from her since he didn't want their friendship to be ruined.

She gave him a questionable look. "Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked him softly.

Lorcan blinked. "Like what?" he asked her innocently.

"I don't know…but you've never looked at me like that before."

He smiled shyly. "I never noticed how beautiful you were before."

Roxanne widened her eyes in surprise and they both looked away shyly. They wore identical pleased grins though.
