A/N: Here's a fic about some Ron/Lavender, even though Ron's clearly in love with Hermione.
Disclaimer: Rowling owns Harry Potter, not me.
Lavender Brown was skeptical as to why Ron was still dating her. He knew it was nothing but lies, but even so he stayed. She'd watch as he shared his greatest accomplishments and deepest fears with the buck-toothed know-it-all Granger. She knew he liked her. She knew he loved her. But still Ron was with Lavender.
"Won-Won," she giggled, leaning into him. "Gimme another kiss. Come on." She was wearing an emerald green dress that she knew he liked.
Ron seemed focused on something else. That Granger girl, probably. "Ron!"
His head snapped back to her. "Yeah?"
"What's on your mind, sweetheart?" she murmured. "Penny for your thoughts."
Ron shook his head and kissed her cheek. "It's nothin'. Just...nothing."
Lavender finally gave in, and grabbed his hand. "Come on, slowpoke. Let's go down to the lake."
He followed.
She hated her. She hated her with every bone in her body. Lavender was beautiful, and she knew it. Why did Ron look at Hermione like she was everything? Lavender was obviously everything Hermione wasn't. She was brave, she was beautiful, she was flawless. She wanted to punch something. Why wouldn't Ron love her?
"Miss Brown." Lavender spun around. There stood Professor McGonagall, beside the fireplace as they stood in the Gryffindor common room. "Miss Brown, I need you to come with me."
Was she in trouble? "Am I in trouble?" she asked.
The teacher shook her head. "Mr. Potter told me you were...good friends with Mr. Weasley."
Ron? "Is he okay?"
"Mr. Weasley is in the hospital wing now."
"What—what—"
"I'll explain on the way, Miss Brown. Let's go."
"Ron," she gasped. "Oh, Won-Won, how could this happen?" He was so pale, so pale. She gripped the end of the bed. "Wake up. Wake up." She willed it to happen.
She felt like nothing without him. Falling in love was the easiest thing she'd ever done. Did she love him? Well, yes. Of course. Did she trust him? No.
She almost hissed as the ugly bushy-haired girl entered the room, the Chosen One by her side. "Lavender, don't you think you've been here long enough?" asked Madame Pomfrey.
Lavender shook her head fiercely. "No. I need to be here when he wakes up." Her boyfriend stirred beneath the sheets. "Ah! See? He senses my presence!" Victorious, she went to touch his arm, leaning down to spot any reaction in his face. "Don't worry, Won-Won! I'm here. I'm here."
He was muttering something that she couldn't understand. She leaned closer to hear it better. It must be something for her. It must be something for— "Er..." he groaned. "My... Nee..." What? "Hermione..."
She knew what he was saying. It made her mouth taste bitter and her eyes burn. She balled her fists, trying not to cry, and ran.
