Ten Things Hild Doesn't Actually Hate

Hild doesn't hate Belldandy or Skuld. In fact, she rather enjoys having them as part of her extended family. They're easy targets for her schemes and experiments.

Hild doesn't hate the Almighty. She just wishes sometimes he'd indulge himself instead of thinking of the greater good. That sort of thing got boring after a couple of millennia.

Hild doesn't actually hate the fact that Urd grew up a Goddess. Sure she would have preferred to raise her only child as her heir and as a demon, but she sees enough of herself in her daughter to be proud regardless. And Urd wouldn't be half as easy to manipulate if she wasn't as fond of her sisters as she is.

Hild also doesn't hate Urd for choosing to stay a Goddess or refusing to join her in Hell. After all, she knew she'd get that response before she'd put forwards the suggestion, and had only said it because it was expected of her.

Hild doesn't hate the fact she's single. Having a partner requires time and effort, which could be better spent on concocting schemes against Kami-sama, not to mention that any demonic partner she took would undoubtedly use their status as lover of the daimakaicho to further their own goals. That really only left gods or mortals and whilst mortals didn't live long enough to keep her even amused (with the exception of Keiichi), she'd already tried a relationship with a god and she wasn't even sure herself what to make of it.

Hild doesn't hate that her daughter's power can't compare to her own. She'd be more worried if it did. After all, there are many stories in the human world where children overthrew their parents, and her minions had often played some part in that. She's quite content to watch Urd mess around with more power than the average god or demon, but safe with the knowledge that she's one less threat.

Hild doesn't hate that she and Kami broke up on amiable terms. It made handing over Urd easier, and certainly makes the rare occasions they meet much more bearable. It also means she can flirt with him, which was one part of their relationship she'd enjoyed the most.

Hild doesn't hate gods. After all, her daughter is a goddess, so she can't generalise like that. Besides, in a way, she feels sorry for them. They're just poor unfortunate beings who haven't seen how much fun being a demon is.

Hild doesn't hate telling the truth; it's just that as the leader of hell lies are more befitting of her position. However, the truth of it is, she can't afford for anyone to know the truth. If people knew she was still in love with Kami she'd lose her position as Daimakaicho, and if they knew that Hild's real reason for respecting the doublet system was not only because she wanted to protect the life of Urd and her sisters, but because of the identity of her doublet partner, a certain leader of heaven, she'd be dead within the hour.

Hild doesn't hate who she is. That would be stupid, and she hates stupid people. However, there are times when she's lonely and in a foul mood and she thinks that maybe, just maybe, it might have been better if she was someone different. Maybe she would have a steady relationship, and maybe she could actually have a relationship with her daughter. Maybe she'd have more children. Or maybe she'd just have taken over the whole world and have that boy Keiichi as her plaything. She is the Daimakaicho, after all.
