The first thing you noticed was how vast and empty the place was.

Devoid of furniture, upholstery all the things that make somewhere a home, it was a mere shell. But for Murdock, it was full. Full of history, memories. His childhood home.

Maybe it wasn't the best idea to come here. It had been his idea after all, but maybe I should have objected, moved us on. We were all tired, needed somewhere to crash, escape the heat and this place was far off from everything. The sort of peace you only get when civilisations a long way off.

It was covered in dust and was noisey. At least we'd hear anyone trying to get to us.

Murdock walked through the house, room to room as though it were full of the things it used to be, I guess that's what he was doing, imagining it how it used to be.

Face and BA had stopped by the stairs, but I still followed Murdock. Kept him in sight.

Watched as he relived things. His eyes always moving, like he was watching events that were happening now.

"Captain?" I ask gently, don't want to startle him too much. "You ready to get some rest?"

Mudock turns to me, eyes alert, aware of me, of who I am and where he is. "Sure, Colonel."
